      Is this the right spot?

This is a demo…I just put it together to get a feel for track order and selection. It’s a once through, so it’s kind of rough…also, I think there was some pretty bad volume-fader bleeding going on. Eh. These things happen.

Let me know what you think.

Cool…I’m glad you liked it. There are definitely a couple of really commercial tracks, but I like to toss them in sparingly – like marshmallows in cereal. Not a ton of substance, but they taste good. Plus, it’s my first recorded set in two years and I’ve had a hiatus from playing parties (regularly) for almost as long. It does some good to toss in a couple commercial tracks as hooks to recreate interest…last time I played Born Slippy at a party, for instance, this chick who was rolling her balls off in front of the tables actually started crying and thanking me over and over…

It was my first recording with Serato. I started this club gig a few weeks ago and until then I hadn’t had any use for it at all but for a club, I had to have access to more types of music than what I’ve got on vinyl. I resisted it for years as being too easy, but I have to say, it’s amazing. I think in the past three weeks, I’ve bought forty new tracks and it’s cost so little. No more 80lb. record box, no more being surprised about scratched records, …the convenience of it all has really inspired me to get back into recording and to be up to date…

Hopefully, I’ll have another mix up with a much heavier sound, probably nothing in the way of commercial musicin the next couple of weeks. I don’t have any keying software, so I have to do it the old fashioned way and it takes me a little while to actually program a set.

Yeh man the odd commercial track can be a good thing for a mix so don’t worry about it. Look forward to hearing one your heavier mixes, get it posted when you get round to doing it raaa

and good job on getting back into recording.i hope to venture into the area in the near future once i get set up at uni and know how much space im going to have (which at this point is looking very little :laugh_at:)

                    so keep at it 😉

thanks for sharing… listening to it now…

we’re going through a stage at the moment where Britain’s rave scene is taking a battering due a backlash from peoples excessive drug use over the years.. one reason it is such a big issue with wider society is we still have the old “socialist” ethos of free at source healthcare paid for by all, so everyone also pays for treating people with self-inflicted conditions like problematic drug users.. its got to the stage where we have to self-censor a lot of our posts now as the cops will use them against us if we aren’t careful…

so something like a DJ in a far off foreign country sharing a entire high quality mix is a real bonus to take our minds off the problems for a bit..

had to look up what serato was, at first I thought it was some European DJ you were doing a set with :laugh_at:

(ironically I am a trained AV engineer but now concentrate on finance databases, telecoms and networking as thats where the money is, so I’ve lost touch with music tech a bit…)

Dude…Serato’s amazing…It’s got to be the most user friendly program ever. I used it four or five times without ever having read the user manual (got the freeware version and used a buddy’s hardware component) and had the entire program figured out; looping, cue points, internal mode mixing (no more turntables)…It’s great. I don’t usually hype commercial products – I don’t even wear clothes with company logos on them, with the exception of my shoes, which I take to the point of vanity – but I feel pretty enthusiastic about this. Enough sales pitch, though…

Thanks for listening to the mix, guys. The party was postponed due to scene drama over venues so I won’t be releasing this one for another month…It’s nice to have feedback and know that someone’s enjoying it.
