Search Dave The Drummer, I can’t link directly though, It doesn’t work for that site. Highly reccomend the set at Templehead, got that on now. Absolute banger…

Try searching any DJs you know on there. Theere’s quite alot of sets from some top DJs.

Don’t forget the download section here! Some really good sets. Mobile Dogwash, Chris Liberator, 2fik, Audio Pancake, Checmical head are some good ones I’ve heard.

I have to agree with you but, in its defence:

The basslines are fuckin awesome and if you mix it up with other styles it keeps it’s novelty and still delivers a massive punch when dropped. I often record my newest tunes as a mix (which is why I often record mixes of one style only), but when I play out I generally get bored of any style after three records so I like to keep changing regularly. For example (excuse some of the dodgy mixing, I was probably being a bit too enthusiastic):

To be honest, I start to lose interest in most musical styles if they get played too much – dubstep is no exception… that’s why I generally change styles every 3-or-so records when I DJ (most of my uploaded mixes are only of one style because when I buy new records I just want to hear them all so I put a mix together for my own gratification and then share it, but when I play out I try to mash it up as much as possible).

A lot of dubstep just seems to be about rinsing that new tune (“Where’s my money” is the one at the moment I reckon) to such an extent that the sets become predictable. It makes all the difference when people produce interesting dubstep with weird samples and remixes, but a lot of djs don’t which is really sad.

If you like Caspa and Rusko, get Fabric 37. And “Otacon” by Reso is quite good also.

That’s one side (the popular side) of dubstep. The other side is massively creative, not just about the drop and producers like appleblim, skream (when he tries) and many others experiment with beats, rhythms and sounds to make something new and interesting. Big wobbles and techy noises with basslines that hit ‘the brown note’ are just a happy sideline in this truly innovative genre… in my humble opinion.
