Yeh you’re right. Do you reckon security would be opposed to drug use though at an event like that? Obviously in the townie clubs they’re obligated to look out for drug use i spose but i wonder how they would react in this kind of situation.

Do you have a multicultural group of friends? At least one of the chaps is going to be working as a rentaguard somewhere if they can’t get a job in a elderly care home – many of them have served in their army back home (including seeing harsh situations) and know how to defuse conflicts. They also realise their job is to keep people safe, not act as policeman, and that drugs (and even booze) only cause problems when folk overdo this stuff. I know this sounds a bit like “positive discrimination” but my experience of private security guards is many who are locals/natives are the ones what couldn’t hack it to be policeman or soldier and bring their prejudices with them to the doors, whereas foreigners in a strange and potentially risky hostile situation (but one which can pay well enough) tend not to want to make any more enemies than they already have.

anyway if you start small you should not need this level of security. I went to a Planet Yes event a few years ago which just had a few stewards and went perfectly without any trouble..

Yep i do. I can actually imagine that funnily enough! haha. Well it’s reassuring and it sounds like most private security teams know what their job is and don’t try and be policeman. tbh i never have much to do with security as i’m not one to start any nonsense, but they all seem fairly reasonable in my experience anyway. Although i did hear at Sensi-Tize 2012 in Gt Yarmouth there were issues of Security charging people money to re-enter the venue if they went out for fresh air or a smoke or whatever. AND people told me they would confiscate drugs on patdown and keep for themselves! But I spose it’s all on who you hire for your bouncers, if they’re reputable then all is fine.

That area has its own problems. to put it bluntly its a bit run down and deprived (and so are parts of its Southern neighbour across the border) and that is the only reason why an event of that nature is even tolerated there.

I went there a couple of years back and it was a fun night but I could sense the tensions between groups of people on the beach the next day (indeed a fat chav started a fight and got arrested by two even fatter coppers. I photographed all 3 and went round my mates playing guess the weight (estimates were around a quarter tonne or 250 kg).

Paradoxically if your local area doesn’t have a nightclub that means its upmarket (like Southwold etc). This week Tescos had to defuse rumours they were considering opening a nightclub on land they had bought at Felixstowe, thats how much clubbing is hated these days in this area. its a vicious circle though as the only people left in town are the oafs and their behaviour often gets decent events locked off..

Yeah agreed. Gt Yarmouth isn’t the most upmarket place in the country. Although watching fat chavs fight does sound VERY entertaining. I’ve been a few times there but tbh the only things of interest for me anyway are the Skatepark and The Arena which actually has some decent events every so often.

Hmm a Tesco run night club ey… i wonder what tunes they’d play.

I guess you heard about the event in Blundeston getting locked off and the rig seized?

I just spoke to my mate on the phone about this one actually. Apparently there were about 200 people there and police starting locking it off at 1.40am. Matey left there at about 8:30am but i heard there were people still there at 11.30am! I’m told the cabs were left, but they removed drivers (much like the techniques of brainskan ages ago when their essex party got shut down) to keep the feds happy haha. Kind of wish i went actually, the photos look great!
