So funny, the spot they are on about is sooo notorious with partys that there is no way you will gain access to the spot unless you either plot up there traveller style for a bit before hand or you have someone who works on the council on par with you to open the gate. Either way I hope they have a good time.
They also seem to be trying to pull the old switcheroo with the inbox me your numbers for location details but I doub’t they will outwit the cops with that one. I attempted a facebook free party last week and they tried a simlar technique but officaly canceling the party and inboxing people with details. We arived half hour after it was ment t kick off and the cops were well mobilised. CCTV vans, 5 cop cars stoping any “younglings” traveling on the road. Taking delatils of cars parked up.
Like I say best of luck to them there gonna need it.
June 7, 2012 at 10:36 pm #1254409what in blue blazes makes these kids think that farcebook is any more secure than any other form of electronic commmunication? if anything they are making it worse for themselves, creating a data trail of clear text and all nicely linked to their real name and timestamped (evidence).
Whereas it isn’t quite as easy to monitor traffic on the fixed or mobile telephone network, not only is there more a expectation of privacy, the sort of boffins who can get the data to the cops in a form that plod can make use are very costly to get out of bed at random hours, and even the old ones are often more sympathetic to the ravers and see that sort of thing as an excessive privacy breach for a minor crime.
in reality though all the cops do is add looking out for the rave to routine monitoring of traffic patterns they do anyway to discourage kids from bad driving and crashing their cars. There isn’t any crime until there is more than 20 people with sound equipment. Locals also look out for this and report to the cops – Airwave radios are normal telephones as well so the local old grass can speak direct to the cops at the frontline. England is small and easy to watch over.

Its not like they know everyone they dished out the directions to. So I would expect the cops to be fully mobilsed on the area by the time they get there.
Also its not an ideal location. Very close to a residential area.

Look mate, think random radio static. More activity for cops to trace and deal with, less resources they have to expand on any one single event. Everyone does their bit… you win some, you lose some.
Facebook events are probably very carefully monitored… at the FB end. Bear in mind all the traffic gets routed through just one gateway and it’s pretty easy to screen out people’s activities just from their posts and friends lists.

Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994 (c. 33) is amended as follows.
(2) In subsection (1) for “by reason of its loudness and duration and the time at
which it is played” substitute “by reason of its loudness or duration or the time
at which it is played”.
(3) After subsection (1A) insert—
“(1B) A person commits an offence if he organises, either alone or with
others, a gathering to which this section applies.
(1C) A person guilty of an offence under subsection (1B) is liable—

exceeding 51 weeks or a fine not exceeding level 3 on the
standard scale, or both;
(b) on conviction on indictment, to imprisonment for a term not
exceeding 51 weeks or a fine not exceeding level 5 on the

equipment in preparation for a gathering to which this section applies.

OK, they will make mistakes, and some people learn the hard way (I’m one of them). Sometimes all you can do is give an opinion and a couple of options and let them find out for themselves. It’s an ego thing – rebellious youth will instinctively distrust older people. You have to prove you are on their side of the fence. Not at all easy, especially if there’s history of being ripped off by older/younger people from the opposite side.

Theoretical way (can’t test on current system because I don’t have admin privilages at Babylon locations);-
1) Setup printer to print to file as a postscript file.
2) “Print” the webpage (it will go to a big postscript file).
3) Convert the file into a regular graphics format like PNG or JPG (PNGs are lossless, JPEGs can be lossy). GIMP can do this, publicly available open source (if rather slow).
It will print many times oversampled to the postscript file so you shouldn’t lose any resolution (BUT you can’t copy and paste text off from a graphics file with current technology).

June 12, 2012 at 5:20 pm #1254418Yeah, the fact that the police where I am are (at the moment) actually quite nice about the whole thing aside, misdirection is not something we need, we have nothing to hide about the principles of free parties, why misdirect people? The problem with mass inviting people on FB is that you are going to get some complete pricks turn up and give the whole thing a bad name.
