any petrol heads on here know a thing or two?

right im driving around as normal in my shitty little 1 litre fiat cinqucento all is going fine, the fan belt is screaming as per usual and the break make a horrible scratchy noise everythings perfect, i drop a mate off and go in his house for a bit ,but upon my return to the car it would not start, this happens its a shit car i decided it wasnt pelased with the cold, so i get my mate to give me a push and i bump it all is well go on my mery way, im parked up in a carpark later (left enoguh room to be bumped again if nessercary) and it starts

but then im driving home and the radio starts cutting out this annoied me but i jsut took it off, then the lgihts on my dash showing feul and shit start getting dimmer and im like this is not good, so i speed up to egt home as i am close by this point, top of my street all system failure shits going crap none of the electrics are working and the lgihts are just flickering so i coast down to a spot to park and thats it everything is gone, i dont think its the alternator as if the alternators gone and the car doesnt start its not gonna make it 10 metres when u bump it, but the battery is only afew months old, also my feul injection light was coming on as i was getting close but only momentarily and i cant see why the injector system should be linked to the electrics? any ideas?

The frost has fucked your battery and its not charging or giving a charge out properly IMO

Check your belts are not so worn they are slipping instead of charging.

I dont allow screaming belts for 2 reasons: they are noisy and they slip so they arent performing their given function. Your alternator may be fine but if its belt is slipping it wont be being driven hard enough to charge it. New belts all round may be a worthwhile investment 😉

ey, i agee, get ya self a new belt or tighten it up it should be tight enof to pull it abit,

alternatively the brushes could be worn in the alternator, but that would be why it is cutting in and out all the time,

could be short ciruiting, but that means u have to go round with an avo and check it all, the garage can check ur battery for if its charging correctly, or mayb go down to halfords

when u do break down and turn it around what sound does it make, is the starter motor going around??

                            hope ya fix it

I agree with the belt tightening thing, also I’d give the battery a full nights charge, if it’s still shit, prolly the battery, if not got to be part of the charging circuit. Don’t know about the injection system but light could be lack of juice to an EMS?

the alternator cant be more half 6 months old so theres no reason the belt should be going already but yeh ill give it a look into, but to be honest i think its the battery not delivering a charge cause the electrics are now working but when u try to start the engine the lights dim right down so im sure its a problem with a connection somwhere hopeing tis just oxidized but meh didnt get round to it today had other business that needed attending (on my bike) so its a job for tomorrow me thinks

got down and dirty today and sussed it, the screaming belt which i though nothing of was actually a loose belt to do with the water pump, due to this the alternator wasnt egtting enough charge for how much i was driving at night and tha battery has just drained but is still in working order so i bumped it this morning off my naibours car and went for a long drive with all the electrics off so it should be good for the next few days if im only driving short distances, just gotta sort out the belt now and maby the valve on the water pump its due an m.o.t anyway so sort this now and then ill be dandy, cheers for the help everoyne
