what sort of books do you actually like?

I tend to read all sorts of random things like 1950s technical and engineering books (actually came in very useful when doing squats and squat parties as I could work safely on electric installations that Dr Frankenstein probably used), and books about pig farming and self sufficiency (the bulk of which I gave to Mudstomper for his birthday, as he’s actually got the resources to put those ideas into action)

try the charity shops in your local area, assuming they haven’t all been burnt out and other people actually read..

I guess to be honest i didnt find them sad, because he gets himself out and makes something of himself, although throughout there are times i questioned how that a little guy could ever be in that situation and even felt feelings of hate for his ma at the end of the three it actually felt like i knew him :you_crazy:smile:

actually just this afternoon pulled the first one out … think its time to give them another read.

Jack Kerouac – On the Road
It’s an absolute beat classic, my favourite book.

Hunter S Thomson – Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
So much better than the film.

Anything by Douglas Coupland, but i’d start with Generation X

                                                    Howard Marks – Mr.Nice …not really a classic, but the man’s a legend :o)

If you liked 1984, brave new world is a similar distopian novel and pretty good… i’ve always thought its in the shadow of 1984 though.

I’m currently reading Tom Wolfe’s The Electric kool-aid acid test.. it’s great so far so i’d recommend that.
