its meant to be good, but thats just reviews, my mates well into them and hes not too impressed, but then hes said that about all of them since ff7

ff 7 and 8 ftw. 7 was the best and 8 people just didn’t understand or appreciate it even though some aspects were far far superior to 7. people just couldn’t accept the change in graphics etc.

7 – teh best computer game ever
8 – awesome
9 – didnt get into
10 – storyline sucked balls but the end game was really fun
12 – absolute shite

13 – I’ve been playing this for a couple of weeks now (it leaked onto the internet early)

It’s incredibly linear, basically a long straight road with cut scenes and fights, not so much as a fork in the road.
But I dont like massively open ended RPG games with a billion choices, vast landscapes to get totally lost in, and many ways to fuck up the ending by making the wrong choices, so I’m really enjoying it. I hate games where it’s not obvious what to do, and so far it’s ALWAYS obvious what to do (ie walk along road towards map marker and whack anything you bump into)
It’s visually stunning and the battle system is different enough from the previous games to keep me interested
But if you are a hardc0re RPG fan who wants total control over everything they do and the option to develop a good/evil character and choose their own quests, you wont like this game

It will change eventually, with all FF games you have to grind through the storyline, and just before the final boss you get free roaming of the map, and thats when the real fun starts, when you can start maxing out your character and taking on the uber bosses. FF13 will have that at the end too (it had bloody better).. but you gotta grind through the story first.

nothing will beat FF7, ever, it was the perfect storyline and battle system. Nothing will ever come close ever. It was truly epic, I’ve completed it about 5 times. I have a picture of Aeris on my wall.. and guess what we’re naming our first daughter
