the problem is that the only people who have woken up (i.e people who use drugs themselves or those who have liberal progressive views towards sex and even the sex industry) are seen themselves as “scum / deviants / criminals ” and their views are never accepted by “normal people”.
If you speak to non-users here about legalising any drug they simply refuse to listen as many have had negative experiences from the effects of drug culture and don’t equate this with prohibition because the only anti-prohibitionist voices come from drug users
even young people have seen their friends lack of self-control get them into trouble (street prices are low despite illegality) so they have negative views about drugs…
and even though people feel sorry for the girls families there is still the hidden feeling amongst some (particularly those with power) that “its payback for bad lifestyle choices” (but they don’t actually say this due to political correctness) and there is also a view that “todays party girl == tommorows prostitute”
at the moment too many are clamouring for cops to protect them and wave a magic baton to just make all the nasty bad people go away rather than looking at the wider picture or being prepared to tolerate drug use (of any kind) or legalised sex industry….
