I can imagine Radiohead lasting a very long time. They have a very dedicated fanbase and a lot of critically acclaimed albums. You have to remember that it’s quite hard to tell what’s going to survive when you’re in the midst of that culture. Back in ’67, when Sergeant Pepper and Are You Experienced came out, the best selling single was by Engelbert Humperdinck. Likewise in 69, the height of “hippy” culture, when the Beatles had released Abbey Road, Jimi Hendrix was huge, Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd were coming into their own etc. The best selling single was “Sugar Sugar” by the Archies..a cartoon band.
We only remember the classics now because that’s what ends up surviving.
