if you select the correct components PC’s can be robust – and for the price of most macs you can buy two PCs though – use one for music (and don’t fuck about with the settings unecessarily!) and keep the other one for work stuff / games / anything else… if you share the drives or use a NAS then you can share the music across them..
A lot of my mates use Macs and I can see the appeal of them but since the late 1990s I’ve always felt you paid a big price premium for the convenience. Also last time I used my mates Mac I managed to crach the thing hard whilst running some combined digital / analogue synth he had (required full power cycling).
