Why the hell do the government etc keep loosing peoples data??

I got a letter last week from the MOD apologising because my details have gone missing on a laptop that was stolen in Birmingham,

They said that the info that was contained was: My name and address, the details of my family (parents, aunts & uncles etc), doctors details, driving license details, they also have copies of my birth certificate and passport too.

It takes the piss, they lost this info ages ago and have only just decided to tell me. All they can do is apologise and tell me to keep an eye out for people trying to use my identity. TOSSERS!
