My mum and dad kept chickens whilst we were growing up in suburbia for the eggs, and we used to sell some eggs as well

They didnt have meat birds as we became quite attatched to them,
and when one was irrepairably ill my dad had to kill it and I hid and watched and it was the first time I’d seen my dad cry.. 😥

and co-incidentally we had chicken for tea that night and none of us could eat it as we thought of our bird…

I think these programs (although clearly biased) are good for raising awareness and getting people talking if nothing else

I’m trying to wear Mr Tank down as I want 2 birds but its a slow process….. 😉
