if you want to add visuals you’d be better off doing that with the computer as well – many broadcasters were moving away from tape when I was a broadcast engineer in the late 1990s/early 2000s and there isn’t much advantage in using a digital tape recorder nowadays for audio or video and a lot of extra hassles (I just about managed to rescue my mini DV footage from the mid 2000s before the transport mechanism in my camcorder became too unreliable (to the point it could lock up and chew up the tapes).
The only time tape gives a particular sound is when analogue recorders are used and those are becoming hard to get and way expensive and so is the tape (about €30 for one 18cm spool!)
