I always try and say hello to people. Im from up north anyway, but I was brought up in Sheffield, a pretty big city. I was always brought up saying hello to randomers and what not, even when I lived there.
Ive moved to Lincoln the last 10 years or so, and Its pretty much the same, even though its smaller.
Regarding something else though, when Im not alone and in a group, it pisses me off when people avoid me just because they think they’re going to get shit. Especially when i used to roam the streets. Even when we were all dressed like chavs and with a crate of stella in each of our hands, we always said hello to old people so they didnt feel uncomfortable, but I still think they thought we were gonna mug them lol. Very sad really. We even passed an old woman and helped her weeding the drive way once.
Infact, when I had a skin head, I saw old people cross the other side of the fucking road just to avoid me. It was really shit lol.
Anyway, in terms of every day life, and people of all ages, I think everyone should lighten up and say hello to at LEAST one person a day in the street. It always puts small smile on my face If someone does it to me. Although It seems Im saying it first 90% of the time…
