what thinkbank is doing is running a parallel real time database and then passing the transactions to the banks old software (I think its the Bank of Scotlands systems it goes through), with two separate ledger databases and a budget limit.

Many companies do this in their accounts department anyway but this bank is offering the service to private individuals.
