    if you have ended up with a program called “Wireless Configuration Manager” from the BT disk remove it (I think its part of that “BT Broadband Helper”). The version I encountered contained a bug that caused the wireless network hardware to sign on to the first unsecured network it found irrespective of what you had set as the default WLAN!

    caused untold hassle when I first came across it in May, took me a while to work out what was going on!

    Disable this, also any other “wireless config manager” your laptop manufacturer may have bundled and let Windows look after the wireless connections.

    The encryption for these BT boxes is WEP and the default encrypt key is on a label on the back of the router, marked BT Home Hub Wireless Settings (don’t use the other one marked BT Fusion, thats for something else)

    By doing this I’ve mannaged to get my laptop (Toshiba Portege) working on all WLANs at multiple sites I visit…
