So I’m pleased to announce that Party Vibe now has a pair of it’s own cryptocurrency mining pools. Whether this is a topic you are familiar with already or interested in knowing more about. We’d love it if you were to try them out, details below. However for any of you who are unfamiliar with cryptocurrency mining, a quick introduction…

1. What is a cryptocurrency?

Cryptocurrencies, which you will have now heard quite a lot about in the media, operate thanks to de-centralised networks of computers as opposed to those controlled centrally by a single entity such as a bank. They rely on this network to share many copies of the same information in order to validate the transactions passing through their network.

2. What is cryptocurrency mining?

Computers on these networks solve mathematical problems as a means of helping validate the transactions mentioned above in return for a small sum of the same currency as a reward. Depending on the algorithm a particular currency has been based on, different kinds of hardware are required to solve these problems. Some like Bitcoin require expensive, custom built hardware known as ASICs designed specifically to solve these problems, while others were designed specifically to be solved by common computer CPUs, graphics cards or even a web browser. Although it should be said that in this category, graphics cards are much better at solving these problems than their CPU counterparts at this time.

3. What do I need to mining crypto?

Assuming you’ve chosen to mine a CPU or graphics card friendly currency such as Monero. All you need is a cryptocurrency wallet and a computer.

4. What is a mining pool?

A mining pool is a means for people to club their mining resource potential together in order to achieve much faster and regular profits. Mining independently is possible and the rewards are greater but much less frequent or predictable.

5. What is a cryptocurrency wallet?

A wallet is somewhere to store your currency. There are several different kinds: online wallets, software wallets and hardware wallets. Generally speaking an online wallet is easiest to use but least secure while a hardware wallet is most secure. All wallets have a public address which you can share with anyone in order for them to send you currency. And a private key which you the key to your wallet and should never be shared with anyone.

6. What are Sumokoin and Electroneum? And why have you chosen them for our pools?

Both we’re forked (a.k.a cloned or copied) from Monero, meaning they operate on almost identical principles although they’ve gone in different direction since. Monero is probably one of the best known cryptocurrencies with a very strong focus on privacy, also very commonly found on the dark web. And many, many times more private and anonymous than Bitcoin which really not very private at all. Regardless we chose these currencies because they are easiest and currently among the most profitable to mine.

So all this aside the address or our pools is finally available below. As I said we’d love to have you visit, try out what we’ve built and let us know what you make of it all. If you have any questions we’re here to help of course. Happy mining!

7 Million Listeners in 2017

First of all our sincere apologises for the technical glitches some of you might have felt this week. Although we strive to keep our station running as smoothly as possible at all times. We migrated to a new hardware platform and there were some problems along the way unfortunately. Having said that everything is now solidly bedded down and there shouldn’t be any further problems from here on in, touch wood. Still as always please let us know if you have any issues, your feedback is important to us.

Now some audience figures for 2017, our 20th year in internet radio broadcasting…

The figures for our radio station audience of the last 12 months are in. And 2017 was yet another really great year for our station with more than 7 million listeners (!) tuning into at one stage or another, for an increase of 1 1/2 million over the previous year. And all there is to say about that is thank you all so much for your support and a belated happy new year.

Station updates 05.2017

As it happens quite a few changes to our service have taken place this last month both in front and behind the scenes. However the following we’re most notable.

1. iFrame Radio Player Updated

Long overdue we finally migrated our iframe Adobe Flash and Javascript based internet radio player to HTML5 and Javascript, dropping support for Flash which is increasingly poorly supported. And started delivering it over HTTPS instead, allowing web site owners who serve their pages over HTTPS to embed it without error messages being generated. Both happened behind the scenes and should have been completely transparent to anyone using our player code, meaning no changes were required.

2. Playlists Refreshed

Significant updates to our reggae, electronic and drum n’ bass station playlists also took place. A big thank you to everyone out there who submitted any of the many music promos which were included in these updates.

3. Site Wide Radio Player Disabled

We stopped using the site wide internet radio player which has been a feature of our web site for some time now. Although from a practical perspective it was really great for users to be able to enjoy our broadcasts freely while browsing. It was causing problems with pages loads taking a very long time and some web browsers freezing temporarily. So great as it was, it just had to be turned off.

4. Individual Radio Station Player Pages Created

And having disabled the site wide player it seemed necessary to create individual web pages for each of our internet radio streams, which was done. Links to which you will find under the Listen menu item above and below every page.

Enjoy!

Several playlist updates 04.2017

I’m pleased to announce that today we made good on our plan to merge the dubstep and breaks internet radio channels of our station in order to make room for a new channel for rock, alternative and psychedelic music, a theme which has been growing in popularity with our listeners for some time. As part of the merger we also completed a thorough spring clean of our drum and bass and newly combined breaks and dubstep playlists. For good measure a very large refresh of our pop music playlist also happened today, accounting for no less than 45% new tracks added. Finally a much smaller country and jazz music playlist update is also planned for the next few days however this won’t be announced separately. As always we invite you to send us your jingles and music promos for free airtime

This is to let you all know that following several months of research and testing. We’ve now successfully integrated our existing forums into this web site. And we no longer have two separate web sites for the radio station and forum which is a great improvement. Things to know about our new forum set up. It can be accessed from the Forum menu of course, under which you also have the option to follow forum activity, modify your profile, manage your notifications, keep in touch with your forum friends and access your settings. All existing posts, threads and user accounts were migrated over. However existing users will need to set a new password on first log-in as a requirement of the new software we using. Anyway we hope you like the change. If you have any questions about the new setup feel free to ask for help below this post or in the forum’s feedback and questions section…
