Subatomic Sound System

Biography

Founded at the turn of the millennium, NYC’s Subatomic Sound System has built a rep worldwide for genre bending dubwise productions, explosive shows, and breaking down barriers with positive conscious messages and their unique adaptation of 1970’s Jamaican sound system culture and analog dub reggae studio techniques to current bass music genres, digital technology, and live performances. A record label (Subatomic Sound), DJ/production crew (Subatomic Sound System), live band (regularly touring with Lee Scratch Perry), and event promoters (founders of Dub Champions Festival), the Subatomic Sound crew is at work in NYC on every level. Spearheaded by Emch as producer, DJ, and musician, Subatomic Sound releases span from dub to dubstep and everything bass heavy in between.

A few of Subatomic Sound System’s contributions to music history include their wild collaboration with Dubblestandart to produce dub reggae innovator Lee Scratch Perry’s first dubstep tracks, eclectic collaborations with icons like filmmaker David Lynch, Prince Far-i, & UK punk pioneer Ari Up of the Slits as well as unusual electronic projects with new school reggae torchbearers like Anthony B, Elephant Man, Jahdan Blakkamoore, and Dubblestandart. For years, Subatomic Sound Radio blastedd out to a footprint of 11 million terrestrial listeners in the greater NYC area on KEXP’s Mo-Glo broadcast on Radio New York, 91.5fm and can now be found on the internet and podcast from BrooklynRadio.com

Subatomic Sound System has performed throughout the U.S. Canada, Europe, Asia and Russia including recent shows at Coachella & Red Bull Music Academy.

In his spare time, Subatomic Sound System’s Emch enjoys long walks on the beach and playing guitar for Dubblestandart and Lee Scratch Perry.
