Robert Babicz

One of the many prolific German techno producers originating from Cologne, Robert Babicz released a number of dancefloor records on his Junkfood label before evolving into a truly innovative producer by the end of the ’90s with a number of acclaimed, high-profile releases on Force Inc.

Babicz’s beginnings date back to the mid-’90s when he founded Junkfood Records, where he released a number of intense acid techno dancefloor records as Acid Warrior, Department of Dance, and Rob Acid. During this same mid- to late-’90s era, he released a series of records on Space Teddy as Dicabor with Dr. Motte. By the late ’90s, he became increasingly well-known as Rob Acid, a name he continued to use upon signing with Force Inc and releasing a series of globally recognized records; other Rob Acid records appeared on London, Labworks (Colone Acid Science Trax), Important, and Generator, among other labels.

During his late-’90s affiliation with Force Inc, he also released a series of more experimental, less dancefloor-orientated works under his own name; these recordings (Momente, Desert) alluded to his theoretical musique concrete roots. Then in the early 2000s he began releasing light techno with an accessible yet dancefloor-worthy feel on Force Inc as Atlon Inc., highlighted by his Main Things full-length.
