mIRC Chat?

Just wondered If the IRC chat module has ever been thought of to be used as our chat room, instead of the Java one we have now?

I have used vBulletin boards before, so I know Its one of the add-ons.

mIRC - Internet Relay Chat Client

mIRC Website

With this, more regular users would be able to log on straight to the chat room through the more useful mIRC client, which would solve alot of Issues people have with the chat room. The issues being mainly, that you cant see when people are coming in and out of the room, and when people talk. I have seen It mentioned a few times, and have though it myself.

Now dont get me wrong, I am grateful for the work done already on this forum, and the chat room, but thought a suggestion was a good Idea

Anyway. With this free program (for 30 days, and Im not sure about the IRC module add-on), you can easily set up a room for the PV Members.

The main advantage of the mIRC, is that it is very simple, and with the one click of the launch program Icon, you can be straight into the PV Room. Also, with the main advantage, the Task Bar Icon flashes when someone leaves a message, or when someone logs on ect...

Also, Its instant, no "refresh" time, which can sometimes post quite a few messages at once when there's a few chatting.

I think this would greatly benefit the regular chat members, and with the forum module installed, somewhat benefit the casual chatters. The client IS £10 for life after 30 days, but it is very useful for alot of forums and what not. Even so, £10 for life, to chat in the PV room is cheap. I mean most of you regulars payed to have a green coloured name, and post in that forum that no one uses

The ones I have used are confusing, they can be good ,because 2 people can talk alone too,but we can do that in pm's too..

I know some people like it but I'm not one of them

Not sure what you mean about people having problems with the chat?
I haven't had any problems since the smilies were removed..
Other than it looks a bit boring now

Well, not problems, just things that can be improved thats all. Like I said, i saw people complain that they cant see when people chat, so they miss messages, and every gets the feeling that no one is talking, because everyone with the chat minimised in another window, doesnt know anyone is active. With mIRC you dont have that Issue, because the task bar Icon flashes when something happens.

It can be confusing, but with a simple guide you can set it up in less than a minute, and never have to set anything again. Just one click. Also, If you prefer just the forum chat, you could still use it, but it would be using the IRC module for vBulletin, which is specifically designed for chat rooms, rather than the shout box.
