Wink Free Party Against the G8 - Scotland July 2005

hi everyone!

this is my first time on this site but i've got exciting news for all Free Party People.

the G8 Summit of the world's most powerful leaders (inc Blair & Bush) are meeting at Gleneagles Hotel, Perthshire, Scotland from 6th to 8th July next year. Airforce 1 is expected to touch down at Edinburgh airport and the word's most dangerous man (is Mr Bush a terrorist?) will be on Scottish soil.

up here in Scotland, we're not too happy about this. luckily for us, they've picked a very rural spot for this year's summit (although the roads around Gleneagles are very good) which means that we'd like to invite you ALL to the biggest free party scotland's ever seen!!

in fact the Free Party Against the G8 is going to be held in a number of locations around the G8. there'll be an 'Alternative Village' set up (camping, clean water, food, sanitation0 for all protesters headin up here. there'll be a big party within the Village (safety in numbers) but as well as this we've heard from people with rigs 'down south' who intend to set up wherever they fancy at the time. so lots of choice and we're planning to put on coaches to take free party people to the demos etc that are also planned.

info on the party will regularly updated at http://g8alternatives.movingpages.or...Wiki/FreeParty and at http://www.g8alternatives.org.uk/

the first url is editable web space (a Wiki) so feel free to add your own thoughts.

hope you can all come - should be a wheeze!

DorisDollxxx

safety of post

Greaty to here of this, and I know that lots of peeps are planning similar things. For much better security discussing these things on line, I suggest downloading the encryption program PGP from PGPi.com. Its the safest way of not having 8 countries securiy services talking about our free partys. Good luck.

I understand your point, but sometimes I feel that using an even more cloak and dagger approach (this site is largely only used to talk about partying in general or retrospective terms) then 8 country's security services really will be talking about us.

do you see what I mean? I mean I've posted party numbers on here for events I've helped organise with no problems

hehehe paranoia double bluff special ;)

g8

no it becomes a fat protest encouraging more people to go thus showing more support. the party in its own right is a protest against social control. this page is no3 on google for my search so be careful when putting up details

its going to be fairly difficult to bust the parties....as not only are the police massively under-budgeted for the event and theres going to be lots of mini parties spread across the countryside. As the police are, to be blunt, bricking it about terrorists at the moment and the parties cause little or no danger to the actual summit members as long as we are responsible and assume our right to non violent but very loud protest we should be sound.

I agree. there's no chance the police are going to be able to watch everyone all the time when about 300,000 people are expected to arrive to protest in various different ways. Scotland has a vast amount of open countryside anyway. theres a web site for g8 stuff http://www.g8alternatives.org.uk/
and a wiki that anyone can write on and add their own stuff to
http://g8alternatives.movingpages.or...i/IndexOfPages and its got a free party page on it.

People up in Scotland are trying to negoitate a massive camping and festival type space with the local authorities and police so we might be able to party 'legally' anyway. I heard that people from europe are bringing rigs over as well so its going ot be a pretty big event either way!

G8 Crasher

Well they're really panicking now that Sir Bob has invited 1m people to descend on Edinburgh! We tried to get space for a 'legal' free party but it just hasn't happened. A 'Convergence Space' has been found in Edinburgh for protesters to camp, etc but they're not keen on having a bangin' techno party going on around them! However, we have managed to organise 'G8 Crasher' so you can party after the 'Make Poverty History' demo on Saturday 2nd July...

See you there,

Wink G8 Crasher etc

We tried really hard to get space in the 'official areas' for a free party but got nowhere so G8 Crasher is our 'consolation prize'. However, I've heard that rigs are still heading for Scotland for the G8 and are just going to do the usual - ie find somewhere to set up and have a party.

For info on the convergence spaces that are being organised, you're probably best contacting the Dissent Network, see...

http://www.dissent.org.uk/content/view/44/97/

If I hear any definite info on free parties I'll make sure it gets posted here nearer the time (cos obviously I won't be able to say till the last minute where exactly it'll be).

It's also worth keeping an eye on the chat on the Dogma forum at...

Ps - 'no burberry' is just code for 'please don't come to our party to get pissed and start a fight'.

G8 Crasher

the whole place is about to go nutty up here.

it's understandable that people planning direct action don't want a 24x7 party onsite - there's gonna be enough stress from the boys in blue and sites could be put under extra threat by party madness plus it doesn't mix well with the kind of public order policing people expect.

that said yeah - lots of green space...

on a side note there's the FOE Climate Alarm 1345 thurs 7th july - make as much NOISE as possible ;)
