if you are in the USA these apply to you

Federal Analog Act - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federal_Analog_Act)
Operation Web Tryp - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Web_Tryp)

Also the First Amendment can be totally overruled in drug investigations, the feds can monitor internet traffic without warrant and verizon/ATT and all the other internet places are obliged to work with them...

Ddo you really want to risk being busted for a federal felony at age 18? some young girl from the USA who used to be a mod here year ago got busted for weed (well actually an empty bag containing seeds) - luckily not enough to send her to jail but she got fined several hundred dollars and and the authorities took away her driving license and college grant as well...

general lightning there are ways to get around this i am not going to go through that site and such but there are ways to get around it. and i wouldnt expect you to know since your in the UK but i know people who have gotten things from the internet safely it takes a while because you have to use the mailing system that takes forever but they can not under any circumstances look through your mail without a warrant. now your story about the girl that seems very likely but would be bull shit since having seeds is legal any bud or the plant is illegal. i have been doing lots of research on US drug laws. so not to be rude or mean but only deal with people in your region.

the girl was one of our moderators and told us the story herself. She stopped contributing to our site soon afterwards as what happened to her was enough to shake her up and make her stop exercising her "so called right to free speech". Bear in mind not every college student can afford an attorney so its perfectly possible the cops got a bogus charge through Court etc.

In the US, some states can (and do) enforce their own drugs laws, some areas are clearly more harsh than others, unlike Europe where the same drugs laws apply in every region within a country.

There were documented cases in New Orleans of people being refused welfare or flood relief cash because they were recorded as having a drugs felony or misdemeanor/infraction charges, something which would be unheard of in Europe and deemed against human rights.

yes the mail system is subject to some privacy protection in both the UK and the USA (the British invented the concept of the postal system) but all nations postal systems have units of the security forces who can monitor what goes through the mail as well as electronic communication systems. they don't necessarily have to open packages in an obvious manner or confiscate them, merely to gather intelligence for a later date.

I know you can "get around laws" in any nation (we have people posting from very conservative Asian nations who still manage to get high) but it doesn't make the laws go away - one day someone ends up being unlucky.

Also I have every right to warn you about the law to protect this site which people have invested nearly 12 years of their time and money in. We as moderators have to answer to international laws (i.e the laws of all the countries where people use this site to provide content or where it is hosted in). We are also obliged by various "child protection" laws to "protect from harm" everyone up to the age of 18 (or the "age of majority" in your country).

In extreme circumstances we or our hosting company could be made to turn over yours (or anyone elses) IP address and profile details to law enforcement if the enforcement agencies provide the right paperwork, particularly if you are classed as a young person in your jurisdiction.

Whilst its currently unlikely that individual small time drug users anywhere would be targeted, feds worldwide already feel have a sense of entitlement to personal info off social networks as large commercial sites like facebook, bebo (a site once popular with UK teens and recently bought by AOL) and Ebay will hand this info over as soon as they see a "badge and shield" rather than insist on a Court Order.

Its OK to talk about the effects of drugs but as soon as anyone discusses sources on where to get them online (irrespective of what nation they are in) it can get very risky - this is why we've recently tightened up some of the rules regarding discussion of on-line drugs sales.
