Christmas here always makes me think of cops, crime and dead prostitutes and always will do.. and so it fucking well should IMO, for everyone in this town...

Its the only way the memory of those girls can be remembered and maybe something done to stop others going down that road, and to try and to stop young men turning into angry controlling old men what commit such heinous crimes..

I will always remember riding back from work in Winter 2006 and thinking "fucking hell, its like being on the set of a ITV crime drama.." a bobby on every street corner literally - Suffolk, Essex, Metpol, Merseyside (who lent 10 mobile CCTV units and still had loads left over to watch the scousers!)

incidentally there was virtually no crime in Winter 2006/07 in that part of Ipswich - no houses got burgled, no one got robbed or mugged...

GiantMidget

Geeze that's a bit of a mood killer. :laugh_at:

General Lighting

the fact the crime dropped in '07 just shows how fucking dysfunctional society can be and I feel people must always be reminded of it - if you really need that many cops for people not to want to attack each other or rob each others property thats a sign of a sick society... but ironically I find life in Ipswich is actually far better than anywhere else I have ever lived in my life.

Its shit what happened and particularly the way the young girls fell into the gutter and lost their lives, but the can of worms it opened up (as well as the fallout from a shooting at a local club what happned around that time) has actually blown open the reality of the darkside the drugs/sex/nighttime economy has and made people round here genuinely think a bit about their lifestyles..

Would love to live in a house with a huge open fire at Christmas time....

I work out in the sticks and there is this couple what own the old farmhouse in the converted farm area I work in (my office is in the old stables)

this couple are a bit like that two out of the old telly show called "the good life" (which myself and sweetandtasty will probably remember but some younger people won't. (it was about a hippy couple trying to live a self-sufficient life etc)

anyway they tried to light their open fire around Autumn (as it was cold and pissing down with rain) - I was in my office at the time, next thing I know I heard nee-naws ( we still use them here) and there was blue flashing lights in the courtyard and Suffolk Fire and Rescue in attendance...

I ended up running out of my office in the rain, thinking we were all having to evacuate (at one point I thought the Gipping had burst its banks and we would all be flooded) and was gonna see if I could get enough time to shut down the servers cleanly and turn off the electric but the firemen said it was just a chimney fire.. the couple hadn't realised the chinmey needed to be swept and it was stopped up with a birds nest or other rubbish - leading to the house filling with smoke and the chimney catching fire....

I was glad that everyone was OK, that I wasn't going to have to stand on my desk in a darkend office with rising water levels and impressed with the quick action of the Fire Brigade but a but pissed off I had left my office and ended up out in the rain for a relatively minor incident.

Remember it well, my daughter has seen some of the re runs and loves it too although she's just 21.

I can dream about the log cabin with the big open fire, I have a good imagination.

Back when i did some seasonal temp work for a computer shop we had to listen to a xmas cd over and over again.

It was fucking well annoying. I even offered to buy a new cd but the manager wouldn't have it. He loved that cd and wouldn't change it.

Gave me so much satisfaction when i 'accidentally' broke it at the end of my contract.

These days i don't really like receiving presents. It might sound strange but i don't like people spending money on me.

One thing about xmas that annoys me is when people say 'oh you gotta buy me this', 'you gotta buy me that' and if you don't they get the arse over it.

Bit fucking greedy really when you think about it, folk should be happy that someone is actually prepared to spend money on them, not dictate what it is.

But i am actually looking forward to it all this year. I am going to be a cheesy motherfucker, Hopefully will have a lot of money saved up by then and about 3 weeks off work.

Nice!!

I know you're right and with my ex boyfriend I used to think I wanted marriage again, glad I didn't though cos he was a control freak, hence the reason he's an ex.

With the one I'm with now, I've never even thought of marriage.
Maybe he's not the one and that when 'THE ONE' comes around I'll be ready.
