facebook will hand any personal info over to cops as soon as they see a fax from a CID officer of Detective Superintendent (or above) rank as will most US-owned/funded social networks..

if you have mentioned mephedrone or raves or anything like that anywhere on your wall or in private messages or anywhere on the server facebook remembers this and adjusts the adverts accordingly.

everything you put on there under your ID is scanned and used for some reason. It actually costs fuckloads to pay for all the servers and hosting and electric somewhere like facebook uses, and they have to make their money back somehow. They do this by sellling "targeted advertising".

Facebook sometimes puts your images and text on various adverts on the site. You can opt out of this on the settings page. I don't really like FB though these days.

It's good for contacting people but it's getting a bit shit now.
