Did anyone see the survey results on channel 4 news last night. People were asked whether the behaviour of the police at G20 was reasonable (or something like that)

the results were
46% - yes
45% - no
9% - don't no

shocking! A man died ffs! :hopeless:

I am a former Civil Servant and "amateur criminologist" who has been monitoring the way cops deal with crime and other issues for over 10 years now (comes naturally from the days I was a rave organiser),

over this time I have come to what may initially seem to be a surprising conclusion that Whitehall and the senior ranks of the Police are more liberally minded than many normal citizens... consider what the Inspector of Constabulary said which is a massive attempt to change Police attitude for the better compared to even 10 years ago, then consider how many normal people complain that "the cops don't do enough about crime/drugs/anything they happen to disagree with"

if government/policing was really left to the people (particularly traditional working class and Middle Englanders), we'd actuallly have a more authoritarian nation similar to Singapore, but much more bitterly divided...
