The girl who fell from the roof at the party in Sheff on sat night is fine and well with just a broken leg and brused ego.
people look after your mates and dont take silly drugs in dangerous plases. Yes the door to the roof should of been locked or cordond off but the guy selling Noz on a roof should of been told off & people should keep an eye on there friends.

down south the risk of serious injuries being sustained at illegal raves has been regularly mentioned on CJA paperwork as justifications for closing down events !

it doesn't matter though as they are the ones with the power (although the incident TVP mentioned was one death in a region where raves had gone on without major incident for 14 years, whilst at the same time there had been several stabbings and shootings at legal dance music events, but TVP never had them closed down as people paid their license money
that said the NHS and Ambulance Service in some areas are now getting a tad cross both with the amount of ravers they have to patch up due to preventable injuries and/or overdoses due to greed, and even more cross that their entonox cylinders keep going walkies. The NHS also have the power to impact on drugs enforcement (i.e suggesting that the cops stop certain kinds of events) via the local Drugs and Alcohol Action Team...
and I will be brutally honest and admit that in the last two years a lot of casualties associated with raves in SE and Eastern England have been victims of deliberate violence rather than even accidents, yes even in relatively fluffy East Anglian parties there has been a fair few fights over girls, as well as attacks and counter attacks between groups of chavs trying to rob one another (not quite as bad as London but still unwanted)

ambulence crews getting anoyd at the ammount of ravers they patch up? id love to see imperical evidence for this... Its hard to quantify the ammount of voilence at raves, but stastically it must be minimal at wrose, at least recently. Not sure we should pander to NHS ambluence crews too much, though it is a vastly complex issue.

They don't show their annoyance openly due to professional rules and much of it is from gossip between the paramedics, the cops and the healthcare assistants at emergency departments, I can't be too open about where I get my info from but it is coming from various reliable sources within the NHS.

I was involved in the organisation of both legal and unlicensed dance music events from 1992-2005, over the years contributing to 3 crews in SE England, and in recent times I have noticed an increasing amount of violence at raves. It was one of the main reasons I knocked being a main part of a crew on the head in 2005, although in recent times I have helped on the sidelines with some legal events in the East.
I would say in some areas of SE/Eastern England the amount of incidents at events has closed the gap between "underground" and "townie" events.
Things may currently be better in other regions of the country. Outside London however, most of the violence occurs not randomly but between people what know one another.

Its certainly an issue, but without stastical evidence and the what not, its hard to take someones word. Espechally from my point of view, i hardly saw a single incident of voilence at a rave in the very area u talk about, and i must have raved virtually every weekend in that area. however my experance is highly limited. Raves morally are so difficult, but i still think it would be hard to prove that theres more violence per person than say, weather spoons. And although they have bouncers, i think they can hardly be relied on to keep people safe, in fact subjectivly it seems a lot of peoples experances are sumwhat more painful.

South Central and Eastern Ambulance services are definitely passing on the details all incidents from raves to the Police and the Drugs Action Team, as well as "accidental overdoses".
They aren't passing across the names of casualties, just the fact that people were injured or overdosed at a rave. This happens for both unlicensed and licensed events and is used to justify police action of various kinds against these events. I would say at least 3 ambulances were deployed to raves in East Anglia in early 2007 - and by that summer there was zero tolerance. This was no coincidence.
Raves morally are so difficult, but i still think it would be hard to prove that theres more violence per person than say, weather spoons. its not a case of "violence per person" but violence amongst a small group of people. I have however definitely, in the last 5 years, noticed more incidents at the raves I have been to, both in unlicensed and licensed venues. bear in mind also as a former organiser you are constantly on the lookout for issues/problems more than someone what attends merely to get trashed.
I could give much more accurate figures and incident details but that would be rather unwise with cops constantly monitoring this board, people have got in enough shit for organising raves round here as it is, nor do I want to cost anyone their nights in legal venues.
But there definitely has been a increase in incidents at events - It tends to coincide with a drop in the quality or popularity of party drugs such as MDMA and an increase in the use of alcohol and cocaine.

Its so very sad if its true thats for sure, my experance is so limited i cannot really add to this. :( but i know how i feel about violence and it does make me angry/sad/upset etc. It does seem odd men try to prove their own worth by hurthing those weaker than themselves. If ony Mr Tyson would tour the countrys pubs, put a few people to right perhaps hehe (though under close supervision!!)

When I saw the roof at the Sheff party and heard of the rugs that were knocking around, I said to my mate someone's going to end up falling from that roof. Low and behold superwoman made an entrance. To get away with only a broken leg is bloody lucky after falling from that height.

How do lads? If I could use the multiple quote option I would, but I'm technologically challenged when it comes to these sort of things.
Zogg was nuts - it bangs out the sort of tunes that's right up my street. Shame the street happens to be called the M1 and 150 miles long, but worth it every time. By the time I thought about texting you DJP my eyes would have been struggling to focus on my trombone. I might make my way up to the free Zogg party next month, funds pending - give you a shout about it when the time's nearer.
How's tricks Spark. There were a few people I knew heading to the squat that night, but the place was packed I didn't catch up with many of them. I've asked them all to dye their head red next time, much easier that way...

theres so many things that need to be takern into consideration when chosing a party site. first and foremost is distance from residential areas. then parking & safety. people should be responsible but with things like drink, noz gass and k your gona get wobbly so dont go on a roof. we do quarrys alot but have never had a problem coz people seem to stick by the rig and dont realy feel the need to go exploring till daylight.
If anyone has any site ideas in this area give me, or sparkplug a pm.
The worst site i have seen was years ago in Manchester, its on a vid on you tube called 'manchester free partys' old school. I'd seen it a few days earlyer and there were men in white suits and gass masks hoovering up powdered asbessdoss with the area cordend off. there were piles of sheet asbesstos and tires, rubble and industrial waste allover. Then come saturday night the arches were used for a free party. I pulled the organisers up and told them about it and said they were mad. They looked about and then said fuck it they couldnt see anything wrong and carryed on. People were dancing in clouds of asbessdoss dust & skinning up sat on tires with asbessdoss tables. Someone even had assbessdos on the fire thinking it would burn. I left after an hour at the most, as much as I needed a party that night I wasnt risking my lungs on that shit.
Its the bit in the arches and at the end a girl climbing up a mound of industrial waste which is mainly asbessdoss. saying that theres one arch/werehouse which was a diffrent party for the Milenium where idiots had decided to light a big fire in the entrance & fill the entire plase with smoke, we tryed to get them to move the fire but they wouldnt about 1000 people couldnt breath. We left again after about an hour.

I was at that party it was an amzing night up untill then, im glad the girl is okay, people go exploring and their was lots of people on that roof who didnt fall off its not up to the organisers to cordern the roof of because somebody has been irresponsible, they shouldnt be having nozz balloons next to the edge of the roof and if they are going to have it on the roof then the safest thing to do is sit down in the middle of the roof and have them, which is were they were being sold. fair enough cordern hazzerds of, but you would think people would have more sense then to go sit beside a roof, or their friends should of been looking after her if she was to wrecked to look after herself. people need to take responsibility for their actions be sensible and limit their drugs to what makes them feel good and what they can handle.
