Am off to amsterdam for the 6th time, 4 weeks today. I love it so.

Anyways, usually i go to gigs and spend most of my time ambling around the random streets, talking to randoms and calling into whichever coffee shops I come by and like the look of...however, this time im going with a group of friends and instead of just with my boyf and would love to know of any random/unusual/ places to party the night away. Have read about a few squat bars and such like but got no real idea with the scene over there. Into most electronic genres, love my dnb, reggae, dub, trance, psychadelic chill, chill out etc.

Ne opinions/ideas would be greatly welcomed for our adventure :) raaa

All things psy-trance: goatrance.net (http://goatrance.net/modules.php?op=modload&name=psyevents&file=index)

And other events: DJ Guide (http://www.djguide.nl)

Bear in mind it's Queen's Day at the end of this month...

Koninginnedag or Queen's Day is a national holiday in the Netherlands on 30th April (or on 29th April if the 30th is a Sunday). Queen's Day celebrates the birthday of the Queen of the Netherlands and is supposed to be a day of national unity and togetherness.

The tradition started on 31 August 1885 on the birthday of Princess Wilhelmina, later Queen Wilhelmina.

Queen's Day is known for its free market where everybody is allowed to sell things in the streets.

Other activities during Queen's Day are children's games, individual musical performances, and music concerts.

The night before Queen's Day is celebrated too in some cities, and this is called Queen's Night (Koninginnenacht). The largest celebration of Queen's Day is in Amsterdam and of Queen's Night in The Hague.

During the celebrations people dress in the color orange.

Stick to the Joordaan if you want a munted crowd. Earth (progressive) do a nice PA on the Westerstraat which is always fun and there's another good PA (house) on the corner of the Keizersgracht and the Brouwersgracht. There's yet another PA (trance) ~500 meters to the right of Centraal Station as you walk out (flyer below).

After that (everything stops at 9pm sharp!) I heartily recommend Ruigoord (bus 82 from the Marnixstraat at the bottom of the Westerstraat), it's a squatted housing estate of 30 years and the party (trance) won't stop...

Some old pictures: Ruigoord Solstice 2008 (http://www.partyvibe.com/forums/members/dr-bunsen-albums-ruigoord.html)

If you're really keen there are many parties the night before as well including a boat party (http://www.djguide.nl/party.p?id=67972) (trance) finishing at 6am (flyer attached). Finally the following link will take you to a list of many other events...

Oh thanks so much...im going 2 weeks later than queens day. I will defo be going on a random ramble to some of areas etc....v. interested in squat bars...have read bits about them. I love the Joordaan for even just chillin, the most brill lil restaurants and watering holes, full of quirky locals...a night partyin with em would be fab :) Your a fountain of knowledge on the old dam Dr B!! Clearly u have explored the place expertly.
What else do you get up to when your over that way?or is it hardcore hedonism all the way?

Muchly appreciated raaa
