this is actually a really sound offer, its how people used to be - about 4 years ago I got to a load of parties thanks to someone from SJ (yes you did read that right!) offering me lifts in return for petrol money etc - he actually ended up becoming a big part part of our local crew until health problems and his marriage meant he had to calm down his lifestyle..

its a shame byron wasn't around a few years ago, I actually lived in Berkshire for many years and knew every crew and party what was going on (and helped organise a few raves) right up up until 2005...

they don't crackle any more since Tetra / Airwave was deployed, if used in radio mode they just sound like a normal mobile on speakerphone but go "beep" at the end of every transmission... but they can also be used as a normal phone.

Nokia did use to make combined GSM/Tetra sets (including some "undercover" models what looked just like a big Nokia mobile) but have stopped making them...
