For some time I've been noticing the "getnew" link would sometimes report new postings though the most recent posting in the thread was some days or weeks ago. Couldn't pin it down as I couldn't be sure that someone wasn't editing a posting in them and causing the date to change.
I still can't, but at least I can be sure that the thread's "last posting" date in the screenshot below is wrong ! My actual posting to it was on 1st Jan, not today ! At 12.55pm today I was at work with my head well down in some C++, definitely not posting to PV :laugh_at:
I did leave a browser window open and I can see from my proxy logs there was an AJAX request about 12.51pm, but that happens every half an hour, presumably it's the automatic check for PMs, and I didn't have that thread open anyway. Most of the time when I notice this strangeness it's not even a thread I've posted to. I have a hunch it might be some sort of index caching bug since the thread itself is unchanged, only "getnew" is affected.
Not a serious problem but definitely odd, and I thought it might be worth reporting, even if it's probably going to be impossible to track it down !
