You can't be serious!

Automatics are hopeless : (complex gearing system combined with budget bike = breakdown, costly repairs, pants performance)

In the current economic climate you should be able to pick up a decent bike at a budget price.

I did have a scooter once but after ending up on my butt decided to stick with a full size bike, especially in the slippery winter months

I have never had any more problems with scooters as I have normal motorbikes, always been a breeze to work on when needed as well...

Just learn to drive Cliffy, trust me mate... winter on two wheels is not a fun experience! :hopeless:

does that include automatics? they are far more prone to foul up.
Also diddy scooter wheels over a large pot hole is not cool particularly when you consider the state of some roads.

Admittedly i am spoiled with a ktm duke 640 which is a fab handling bike but took a lot of overtime before i could afford it!

Yeah automatic scooters, well had more experience with an Italjet Dragster 180 that had had a bit spent on it so I might have just been lucky with that one

Mmm yeah the tiny wheels did not like pot holes and they tended to track any ridges or grooves in the road..

btw nice taste in bikes, I was eyeing up the KTM Duke a while ago but as at that time it would have been my sole form of transport I thought against it

big wheels is a definite plus, yer man is right about pot holes... but there are loads of auto scooters and i can't believe they are all that bad!

the couple i've ridden were fine, but badger sounds like he has had a pretty bad experience, so maybe he has a bit more knowledge than me.

i just had a look at ur KTM, cos a duke is something different to me, and it looks very nice. supermotos must be great round town. v chuckable id imagine raaa

Sounds like a challenge. What people have to understand is, i consider myself to be an absolute nutter with no regard for my own safety. A scooter is an ideal choice until i can afford a scorpion tank.

Thanks for finding that for us TG! I would but the colour is all wrong.

I think a lot of it is down to them being owned by kids first off who have no mechanical sympathy.

Supermotos are great fun to ride, however if I was to buy one would have to be a Husaberg 650 or a VOR...

Oh Cliffy I know someone who has a scooter for sale so I am just trying to find out about it, last time he was trying to sell it he expected far to much for it... will let you know if I hear anything

I've just got back to this thread so i'm a bit late with the reply.

have to confess as you probably guessed that i'm just not a fan of auto's and have no authority to comment on modern types and their reliability. Check my age..autos in my youth really were crap!

As for the KTM it is great especially around the twisty roads in rural wales and although it may seem a strange positive to mention its top speed is just below 100 which means my licence is fairly safe. The fun is in burning around the bends. I dont really agree with certain biker mentality of going 180mph around public roads..this make us all unpopular with other road users..however i do ride my dads vtr1000 which is outrageous:weee:
