might be of interest to some of you Northern lot
I didn't even realise how many Chinese people there were in Yorkshire (thought the ethnic minority communities may be mostly people from South Asia (India, Pakistan, Bangladesh))
you can even see the stage version of Monkey!

that stage show of monkey looks quite good, i saw the shaolin monks when i was in birmingham and they were amazing. Some of my mates went to see this opera thing that Damon Alban did, it was like a cross between the Gorillas project and Shaolin Monk type acrobatics stuff looked well good.

There are loads of Chinese people around my end ... We have like 2 or 3 Chinese super/hyper markets (Some of the food is actually pretty nice.. Just, you can't read what it says on the packet! :crazy_diz) And a lot of shops are owned by Chinese people (Around my town anyway)

round here we have these shops, but everything at least has a "Engrish" label
a few days ago there was a huge "Hoo Hing" lorry delivering stuff to a chinese restaurant, I had to swerve round it on my bicycle, it was a difficult manouvre as the thought of its contents was very distracting
as I came round the other side of the lorry I nearly stacked straight into about 8 random Chinese people - nothing to do with the restaurant, there are just a lot of Chinese on this street and they were all also gawping at the lorry to the point they were jaywalking straight into the path of my bike
I think it is programmed into our genetics somehow to constantly think about food.. (think of a cross between a load of hungry siamese cats and homer simpson and that is what is going on in our minds)

I like to do a similar thing in the Japan centres in town. Always a bag of wasabi peas for me and some kind of peanut/prawn/popcorn type affair for the hubbie and then a random item. :crazy_diz
