Some years ago, one of the engineers from Danmarks Radio told me that the Danish people were very proud of "ø", as it was a letter, a word and a place
I think we were talking about computer keyboards, there is Ø instead on a Danish keyboard where the "@" is on a British one (and other stuff like brackets are in different places, which caused confusion to the non-technical users when these odd characters get used in passwords)
(I think I also saw on the ungdomshuset graffiti that someone had sprayed "ø" on the wall)..
so if I asked to go to "Ø, Danmark", where would I actually end up?

Ø is in the valley of the Nørreå in the eastern part of Jutland (the western continental bit of Denmark)
Its also the symbol for the socialist/commie coalition in Denmark (I think)
Correct me if I'm wrong o Dane folk.

We have both Ø and @ on the keyboard
We have Æ and Å too..
Think we are the only country that use them..
Was trying to find a picture but couldn't so I took a picture on mine instead
(I think I also saw on the ungdomshuset graffiti that someone had sprayed "ø" on the wall)..Like Elretardo say

like the English word island is used for all islands

The letter Ø is used as the name for islands (all island)
so is KØBENHAVN Ø actually an island? We have a place like that in London
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isle_of_Dogs,
it is probably not as pleasant, not even a proper island (but you can see it on the Eastenders titles)

Ø is also the shortage of Øst witch means East
I'm starting to get confused now :crazy_diz
