fuck that is well harsh for your age group, I know a fair few people my age who have gone like that but thats only after caniing their minds and bodies for years
why did he have forced withdrawal though?

he got busted basically. drug tests, searched room, supervision (he lives with a huge family, so they watched him)... he was heavy into speed and coke, everytime i saw him he had a wrap of phet. weed n that as well.
he was fine when he was actually on that shit :you_crazy

a lotta shit, dominantly speed i reckon.
i think his age and mental development certainly made him more vunerable to drug addiction, but i think his contact and influence with older people who basically are fucked-up cunts helped hugely.

it sounds harsh but - keep yourself safe mate!
I had to 'loose' a few 'friends' after years of knocking about together as the drugs were their priority and I could easily have got too caught up in it and trying to 'save' them etc as its so easy to loose oneself in it all when it gets rather hectic :hopeless:

Was around 15/16/17 that a few of my mates "fucked up", some of them were really decent people before it happened. Its sad to see your friends go down this route, but i kinda agree with Tank Girls comment.

Yeah, I would imagine SD is proud that he has turned his life around. Due to the fact that it played a major part in his life I'd have thought it would be something that he'd like to tell people about and warn them wherever possible. It's not something I'd forget in a hurry.
Not having a pop at you priv8green, just think you might have misunderstood.
Boothy:
That's pretty rough mate. Hope your mate pulls through. It could just be a dark phase that will only last briefly.
Thankyou Bio,
Yes i only mention it as it was a major part/time/thing in my life that took a long time to get through.
so yes for 1 im warning people against it and two im very proud that i managed to cluck off methadone...

"fine" as in... not a complete fucked up mess, i suppose..
i dont wish he hadnt touched drugs at all, cos for a start they gave him an open sorta personality, effected him ina good way... but too much, too young innit
n glo i dunno what you mean by "puberty" comments?

doubt if it was meant in a flippant manner, I think I can see what he is getting at
there might be different professional terms for the concept I am trying to express as I'm not a medical/mental health professional (I am just mentioning my own personal experiences)
there's of course the physical changes in your body from age 11 onwards - most lads reach this by 13/14 but then there's also the level of reaching emotional maturity, this takes a fair bit longer...
this is stuff like learning empathy for others, controlling your aggression (this is a lot to do with controlling the level of testosterone in your body), not gratuitiously offending people and not taking unnecessary risks whilst still retaining your self-esteem and confidence
you get a lot of mood swings when you are younger anyway without drugs and drugs like amfet and MDMA affect your moods anyway (euphoria vs comedowns) - a lot of people get into a vicious circle of using drugs to self-medicate the mood swings to get more euphoria (I did this myself to an extent when I was younger), and you can get to a stage where slowly reducing the time and frequency of the drug taking is the only way you can stop things like paranoia and "extended comedowns".
Also, it can take as long as your mid 20s or even your early 30s to reach full emotional maturity, in all seriousness I think I have only reached this level of maturity very recently like in the last 5 years...

i occasionally take drugs with a couple of doctor mates, they reckon if any drug is gonna send you mental its amphetamines. I'm going through a similar situation with a load of mates who are getting seriously into smack, i dabbled with that shit a few years ago and two of my ex schoolmates and one of my cousins are dead as a result of it. Its tough because they are my mates but they wont listen to anything anyone tells them, so i dont really know what to do about it anymore except distance my self from that side of my social group, plus i reckon a couple of them have stolen from me. maybe one of them will get locked up or od and scare some sense into the rest of them

mate, like GL says, I wasn't trying to be patronising or flippant
around ages 15-25 many people experience mental health problems (depression, anxiety, panic attacks, uncontrolled anger, paranoia etc)... for many reasons... one of which is the need to be taken seriously as an adult for the first time, when not just your emotional experiences are new, but physically speaking, your brain hasn't finished developing (research suggests that empathy, for example, requires certain brain function that doesn't occur in many people... especially males... until their mid 20's)
society also places more pressure on younger and younger people to behave like adults... especially through the media... encouraging consumerism and sexual maturity in people who are not financially, emotionally or experientially equipped to do so
at a young age, you need to be more in control of your own life than someone who has more life experiences to fall back on when shit hits
i lost my fucking mind thanks to amfet and it took several years to get it back. think about it like this: if you spend half your time baked, then you spend the other half recovering, so your emotions are never your own.... i'm in my early 30's now and i know myself well enough to recognise that if i even go out for a few beers, i'm likely to be a bit more short-tempered the next day...
i hope your man pulls through without any lasting harm
peace

no worries, i didnt think it was actually patronising or flippant, i just didn't really understand at first and thought it was a joke, more than anything else.
it's very true what both of you (GL and glo) say... it is a very vulnerable age to get messed up in drugs, especially amphetamines. i've balanced emotions with drugs before at a younger age (14-15), and i've probably paid the price - my short term memory is non-existant, even my long-term memory is fucked, i remember things differently or not at all. i can't finish sentences, cant concentrate on anything. i do think this was solely cos of the young age which i experimented with drugs, and ended up using them far too heavily.
as for the person who this thread is about... he's still in this state, although he has been able to get out of the scrutinous watch more, and all he does is go straight to the dealer.
i dont know whether its better if he gets off the drugs, or stays on them... short-term, he is much easier to handle if he has his addiction and sustains it, however in the long-term, i cant help thinkin its gunna fuck him over
cheers for all the help and kind comments :group_hug

Amphet is a BAD drug t get into, even tho i fukin love it. Me n most of my close friends are Heavy users, and i hav become v much dependent. Thing is most of my mates dont even realise that it is adictive.
I hope ur mate sorts his self out. its awful 2 c sum1 u care about like that unfortuntly he wont realise that. try to explain to him how it makes u feel. Its worth a try. On wednesday my mate told me how much it fucks his head up seein me in a state coz i cant find a decent vein or my normal dealers got nothin in so im tryin to calm it down for his sake. Cud work wiv ur mate.
