View Full Version : Paris Hilton Petition

Should Paris Hilton be sent to jail or let off by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger?
The petition for sending Paris to jail:
For as long as she has been in the public spotlight, Paris Hilton has knowingly and willingly broken the law, and her actions have gotten more and more brazen over the last few years. Her actions indicate that she feels the law doesn't apply to her as she has repeatedly flaunted the law in full view of witnesses, often paparazzi and camera crews.
A few of the many examples:
In June of 2006, she knowingly backed into a parked car and then sped away, in full view of the paparazzi. This is a misdemeanor punishable by up to 6 months in jail. Paris was never charged.
In September of 2006 she was arrested for driving under the influence and driving with a blood-alcohol level of .08 or higher. In January, Hilton pleaded no contest to those charges and was sentenced to 36 months probation, her drivers license was suspended and she was ordered to enroll in an alcohol education program within 21 days. She never enrolled in the program and she was photographed driving her Bentley convertible just two days later.
Just one month later (on February 27), she was pulled over by Los Angeles County Sheriffs deputies at 10:30 at night for driving 70 miles per hour, without her headlights on, down Sunset Boulevard, which is a 35 miles per hour zone.
In March 2007, the Los Angeles City's Attorney's Office filed a motion citing Hilton for violating the terms of her DUI probation, asking for 45 days in jail, even though the law allowed Paris to be sentenced to 90 days in jail. Hilton violated at least three conditions of her probation; driving at 70 mph without her headlights on in a 35 mph zone, driving with a suspended license, and failing to enroll in the court-ordered alcohol education program.
This petition asks Governor Schwarzenegger to ignore other petitions asking for clemency and show the people of California that no one is above the law. This petition asks that Governor Schwarzenegger do everything in his power to ensure that Paris Hilton serve her full 45 day sentence.
The petition for not sending her to jail:
To: The Honorable Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger
Paris Whitney Hilton is an American celebrity and socialite. She is an heiress to a share of the Hilton Hotel fortune, as well as to the real estate fortune of her father Richard Hilton. She provides hope for young people all over the U.S. and the world. She provides beauty and excitement to (most of) our otherwise mundane lives.
Hilton is notable for her leading roles on the FOX reality series The Simple Life and in the remake of the Vincent Price horror classic "House of Wax". In addition to her work as an actress, she has achieved some recognition as a model, celebrity spokesperson, singer, and writer.
As most of America now knows, Ms. Hilton was just charged in a Los Angeles court with DUI and sentenced to 45 days in Century Regional Detention Facility in California beginning on or before June 5, 2007.
We, the American public who support Paris, are shocked, dismayed and appalled by how Paris has been the person to be used as an example that Drunk Driving is wrong. We do not support drunk driving or DUI charges. Paris should have been sober. But she shouldn't go to jail, either.
As depicted on Friday night's episode "Nancy Grace" on Headline News (May 4, 2007), countless celebrities have been "slapped on the wrist" for similar incidents recently. Nick Nolte, Mel Gibson, Tracy Morgan, Wynonna Judd, to name a few, were arrested and never did a day in jail after their initial arrests for drunk driving /DUI /DWI charges. Rappers Busta Rhymes and Eve still walk free after both being arrested for the same charges as Ms. Hilton just this past week. Brandy's California Highway accident, although no proof of DUI was evidenced in her accident, resulting in the death of a young wife and mother in California, yet Brandy walks free as of today, never doing any time and A WOMAN HAS BEEN KILLED most likely due to her reckless driving!
Yet, Paris Hilton did not hurt, injure, or kill anyone or anything, and yet she must do jail time.
This petition is to ask Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger to pardon Paris Hilton for her mistake. Please allow her to her return to her career and life. Everyone makes mistakes. She didn't hurt or kill anyone, and she has learned her lesson. She is sincere, apologetic, and full of regret for her actions as she explained tearfully to the Judge handling her case in court yesterday. She is distraught and understandably afraid.
WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT to save our Paris from ending up at the Century Regional Detention Facility! Please sign to tell The Honorable Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger of the State of California, to think about the welfare of this young woman who has made a mortal error and deserves a second chance like so many others in our great nation have been served with after a mistake they have made . If the late Former President Gerald Ford could find it in his heart to pardon the late Former President Richard Nixon after his mistake(s), we undeniably support Paris Hilton being pardoned for her honest mistake as well, and we hope and expect The Governor will understand and grant this unusual but important request in good faith to Ms. Paris Whitney Hilton.

(Paris Hilton) has said she is "ready to face the consequences" for violating her probation.
Hilton was sentenced to 45 days in jail after breaking her probation for a drink-driving conviction.
The 26-year-old recently backed an online petition that was campaigning for a pardon from the prison sentence.
In a statement released by her new lawyer, she said: "I do not expect to be treated better than anyone else who violated probation." She added: "However, my hope is that I will not be treated worse."
'Misperceptions'
The star of reality TV show The Simple Life said she released the statement to put a few things right in the public eye.
"After reading the media's coverage of my court hearing I feel the need to correct what I believe are misperceptions about me," she said.
"I absolutely realise how serious driving under the influence is. I could not live with myself if anyone was injured or killed while I was driving while impaired. "Clearly, no-one should - no matter how slightly."
Los Angeles judge told Hilton she must start her sentence on 5 June. In court, she apologised to the judge and vowed she would start to "pay complete attention to everything" from now on.

She should be doing community service with Boy George, arm-length marigolds on, pulling out fossilised poo covered in Werther's Originals wrappers from public toilets. But even then that'd just pee the Asylum seekers off cos they will be out of a job. What's there to do about her eh?!

Well it was bound to happen
Celebrity heiress Paris Hilton may have her forthcoming jail sentence cut in half, US authorities have said.
Time off for good behaviour and prison overcrowding could mean Hilton spends just three weeks in jail. "It's possible it could be 21 days, 23 days," said Los Angeles County sherrif spokesman Steve Whitmore.
Hilton, 26, was sentenced to 45 days in jail after breaking her probation for a drink-driving conviction. She is due to start her sentence on 5 June. Mr Whitmore said the exact time she will serve will not be determined until Hilton is checked into the women-only Century Regional Detention Centre in California next month.
He said "our jail is bursting at the seams" and that some female inmates had been released after only serving 10 per cent of their sentence. But he added that Hilton would not receive any favours just because she is famous. "She will be treated like any other low-level security risk," he said.
Hilton's publicist was not immediately available for comment.
The heiress turned pop singer has said she is "ready to face the consequences" for violating her probation. In a statement released by her new lawyer, she said: "I do not expect to be treated better than anyone else who violated probation." She added: "However, my hope is that I will not be treated worse."
The star of reality TV show The Simple Life said she released the statement to clarify matters with the public.
But her lawyers have said they will appeal against the sentence and supporters have set up an online petition campaigning for a pardon from the prison sentence, attracting over 20,000 signatures.
But a rival online petition supporting the custodial sentence has been signed by nearly 50,000 people.

TMZ has learned that Paris Hilton has not only had her sentence cut short, she is already out of jail!
Unimpeachable sources tell TMZ the deal was sealed yesterday, and that Hilton made her exit early early this morning.
She was originally sentenced to 45 days in jail, but that was reduced to 23. She served a total of five days -- the normal stay for a violation of this kind. Her five days began Sunday nightThe L.A. County Sheriff's Department will hold a news conference in an hour to discuss what went down.
LA County Sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore says that Paris Hilton has been fitted for an ankle bracelet and put under house arrest for the next 40 days, after authorities decided to release Paris from jail due to medical reasons. She got out of jail just after 2:00 AM.Whitmore says he cannot release details about Paris' "medical issue" due to confidentiality, but said that medical officials "constantly examined" her while she was in jail.
Paris will be under house confinement in her West Hollywood home for 40 days. After the 40 days are up, Whitmore says she will have "fulfilled her debt to society."
Whitmore made it clear that Paris was not released early -- she was reassigned. She is technically still in custody.

A Los Angeles judge has ordered Paris Hilton to appear in court later to determine whether she should be returned to jail.
The celebrity heiress was allowed to leave jail on Thursday, only three days into a 45-day sentence for violating probation on a drink-driving ban.
She was given an electronic tag and ordered to remain under house arrest for the remainder of her sentence.
Her release on unspecified medical grounds sparked widespread criticism.
She is due in court at 0900 (1600 GMT) on Friday, where Judge Michael Sauer, who sentenced her to jail at her trial in early May, will hear the case for her "reassignment" to house arrest.
Jurisdiction row
The office of the Los Angeles City Attorney filed a petition on Thursday demanding LA's Superior Court to show why Sheriff Lee Baca should not be held in contempt of court for releasing Ms Hilton.
It also demanded that Hilton serve the rest of her sentence in jail.
"The decision whether or not Ms Hilton should be released early and placed on electronic monitoring should be made by Judge [Michael] Sauer, and not the Sheriff's Department," Jeffrey Isaacs, Chief of the LA City Attorney's Criminal Branch, said.
At the time of Hilton's release, Steve Whitmore, of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said: "After extensive consultation with medical personnel, it was decided this reassignment should be done."
No details of the medical problem could be given for "privacy reasons", he said, but insisted she had received no special treatment.
Civil rights leader Rev Al Sharpton condemned the release as showing the "double standards" of the US legal system. "This early release gives all of the appearances of economic and racial favouritism that is constantly cited by poor people and people of colour," he said. "There are any number of cases of people who handle being incarcerated badly and even have health conditions that are not released."
But New York civil liberties lawyer E Christopher Murray said house arrest was a more appropriate sentence for a celebrity. "Sentencing Paris to jail for an extended period of time was an example of a celebrity being treated more harshly than an average person," he said.

Yeah, she's been sent back to jail!
Celebrity heiress Paris Hilton has been taken screaming from a Los Angeles court after being told to return to jail to serve out her sentence.
The celebrity heiress was ordered to attend the hearing rather than listen to the proceeding by telephone.
Hilton left jail on Thursday, just three days into a 45-day sentence for violating probation on a driving ban.
Her release from detention, on unspecified medical grounds, had sparked widespread criticism.
Hilton attended court to hear the case for her "reassignment" to house arrest.
