View Full Version : Idea for my 2nd Track (NoRegard4HumanLife)
Decided to start work on a 2nd track for the album to eliminate the boredom of repetition when working on a single track, It's very very rough and is basically just an idea jotted down musically, check it out guys and let me know if it's worth pursuing and if so what improvements you think could be made.
Remember that it's a very early idea so no mastering, very little arranging etc has been done.
It's on myspaz

Track is called NoRegard4HumanLife and my intention is to make it in to a bit of a george bush pisstake.

Not bad mate. Not sure I like the barky/scratch noises but I like the arrangement of them. I liked what it was developing in to before it stopped.

thx mate, like i say it's basically an idea at present but It's one i feel motivated to do, I've got a huge sorted sample base of george bush so I've got endless possibilities to work with, I want to make this track more melodic than the previous one and try to make it more varied and interesting.
Want to focus on the melody and lyrics as opposed to the rhythm this time. First time round i was still learning how to put a drum pattern together which is why there was more drums going on than anything else, I've a better version of track 1 (We are failed Mutations) that is about to undergo some spit and polish in cubase before i upload it. I think it is sounding much more rounded than the one currently up on the myspaz
I've picked up a hell of a lot of techniques these last few month's and I'm just starting to find my feet with employing these so I'm hoping for better things to come throughout 2007.
The scratch noises have had no frequency trimming done or anything, it's just a raw noise just now, I'm gonna soften them down and make them a bit quieter and maybe phase them left to right during the mix when georgie boy is quiet.

All sounds good. I liked the other track on there so I'd be up for hearing the revised version.
I used some Bush samples on a track I did a few months back. It was actually just a mess around to see if I could produce over the top cheesy trance and it turns out it's as easy as I thought it would be but I feel like I've wasted the use of some quality GW clips. I should think about remixing it in to techno maybe. Maybe I'll stick the cheesy one on here later.
I've put a slightly cleaner arrangement of the track up on the myspaz, be good to hear your bush mix Bio, might even be worth doing a collaboration on infexious or something see if we can't make a good bushtek track as a bit of a laugh.
I'm gonna be working flat out on the "we are failed mutations" this coming weekend and hopefully add it to my spaz by monday.

Sounding good. I reckon it could do with a few squeaks, bleeps and general FX now to fill it out a little.
I like it Col - but it needs the melody to come in a bit earlier maybe? or have a second melody which echoes the rise and fall in the pitch of the voice sample you are using :groucho::groucho::groucho:
well worth developing the tune raaaraaaraaa
thx raj
I'll have a play with some of the idea's mentioned here, see how they work out

Sadly I'm all contained within a PC. REALLY REALLY need to get midi keyboard controller though as I've been clicking with mice for god knows how long and it's doing my nut in.
PC wise the main stuff I use is:
Cubase SX
Reason 3
Recycle
Main VSTi's:
Z3ta
V-station
Blue
Albino
Juno x2
Battery 2
..and shite load of other plug ins and fx, and Soundforge of course.
How do you get on with Albino, do you think it sounds a little weak? What about Cubase, hows that to use? I need to get myself out of using Fruity Loops, hate the damn thing so much. got reason 3 as well which I love but it's on my hard drive and the soding disk is in the CDROM - which I cannt get at as it's bust and I have a laptop now :D/
As for midi keyboard, you should get your self the Oxygen 8 V2, it's only 60 quid now - look for it on www.dv247.com (http://www.dv247.com) - their quality store.
track updated!!
I use the korg ms2000 to create hardware noises and the bcf2000 for midi control, i use a behringer mx9000 mixing desk or sometimes a little trimmed down one i bought when space is tight at my workstation, I have a couple of full size keyboards for triggers and composing and a few other odds and end's.
Software side I'm using reason 3.0, cubase 3 sx, ableton live, and have tried most of the other dance music software until I'm proficient with it.
At the moment, it's becoming a toss up between cubase and ableton live for the future direction I'm likely to take. I found that reason like fruity can begin to limit you but is an excellent piece of software for getting to grips with the hardware studio environment and the general terminology and techniques involved in dance music production.

It's great for atmospherics, pads and fx but I don't use it for any lead noise or bass if that's what you mean.
What about Cubase, hows that to use?
I started off using cubase when I was at college 10 years ago but didn't start producing again until about 5 years ago when I started using Reason. I've been using that ever since until the last few months. I decided to take the plunge and go back to Cubase. It's much more powerful and flexible than Reason and Fruity and I find I get better results. It's downside is that it's not so intuative and it is sometimes a bit of a nightmare for keeping track of everything. Fruity and Reason are much quicker to work with.
Using audio with Cubase is spot on though. I find I don't even need to use soundforge much anymore because I can do most things in Cubase. It is far superior when it comes to mixing down too.

Yeah that was somthing I was looking at. I would prefer something with at least 3 octaves though. Although for £60 that's a bloody bargain.
Col- version 4 only plays 5 secs and then stops
I'm looking at getting Sonar Studio, although I have Cubase but it's only version 5. As for albino, yeah I ment it's a bit weak for leads and stuff.
also looking to get Spectrasonics Atmosphere, that looks mental and would be perfect for me as I prefer to make Ambient/Cinimatic music. Not sure how it's gonna run on my laptop though, they don't do a downloadable demo as far as I' aware :/.

that's myspaz being gay i think, does the other link play ok ?

Still not getting much - it stops just as the 'different kind of war' sample comes in in full

I'm wondering if the track is being digitally marked, does cubase or ableton do that ? if so I'll route it out to the mxing desk and make a recording.
updated, bit rough near the back end but it's evolving
