I've seen a few posts from people about UK Hardcore and Freeform...

OK there was a fair amount of cheese about in the late 90s and early 2000s but there's a lot of good tunes about now

Even the lyrical stuff isn't that cheesy any more; listen to it and as much of it is about relationships unravelling etc than all that "I love you" type of stuff

And there's lots of good new freeform tunes with D&B influences coming through but the energy of hard dance

wonder if its making a comeback? IMO it should be played more at free parties..

I'll make a confession too - I actually don't mind some of the cheese (mind you can't deny it as I've been seen stomping to a lot of it recently) - with all the darkness in the world a few happy tunes are some of what helps me get through life

For sure, all styles of hardcore are making a massive come back.

Just look at the breakbeat hardcore crew, there are new labels and plenty of releases coming out every month and it all seems to be churned out by the oldies that were around when it was first popular which suprises and pleases me.

To be fair I'm only interested in the breakbeat hardcore stuff as the happy hardcore/freeform stuff is a little bit too cheesy/fast for me but even just in my area there is a huge following from younger ravers of this kind of style which was previously dead for 6 or 7 years.

All the events I've been to (with the soundsystem) have been full of happy people without anything to prove, something which is rare to see at a lot of other events that host different music styles.

I'm well in to the hardcore breaks movement now. I liked it when I found it again (via binge and dj nee) but kinda tried to tell myself that it was just a re-hash of the past so prevented myself from loving it completely. Then I realised that was stupid and now I'm chuffed that I'm hearing new produictions in the style of music that I used to love so much and made up a major part of my memories and youth.

i definitly think so. it seems people are releasing good tunes every week.

tbh tho, it was only during last year i discovered that not all hardcore was super cheestastic and started to look a bit closer. glad i did tho

the first phy-freeform tune has just been released. Nu Energy has some really good tracks out with many different styles, i have one tune where it breaks down into a short classical violin piece. LOVE IT!!!!!
