LOL - just seen the picture of "Green Derek" in 1979 :D

Don't think I went to many of those London parties (maybe a few) but that was the time when there was still an atmosphere of mischievious fun rather than "it may kick off big style any time..."

This guy was and is an inspiration to me, I think I 'm prolly way past the "geriatric" point. But us olduns can have a good time as much as the yunguns.

TBH I think the 40-50+ lot may be having more phun!

If they started out as old-skool hippies/punks and have survived this long on the alternative lifestyle scene without overdoing it (or OD'ing!) or have only "just got into partying" after a "conventional" life; they are more likely to have stuff like financial stability (steady jobs/own business/property) and long-term relationships sorted out - a lot of young people do not have these things - or are experiencing conflict with family due to drug use/party lifestyles -

They see parties as an "escape" and a "community" - but this escape is only fleeting and the problems come flooding back with the comedown..

There also comes a time from age 30-40 where you need to sort out the "normal" stuff in your life for good - in an increasingly turbulent world, people who are not contributing towards the wider society/economy through work or by starting a family are going to be thrown on societys scrapheap - harsh but true!

Although still partying after 14 years I'm rapidly approaching the age where perhaps I will have to calm down for a bit and sort out a stable future - I defo don't want to be a dad but I'm looking towards setting up my own business which will mean I have less time for parties whilst it gets established) but I too hope to return after this; perhaps when I am in my 40s (hopefully sooner!)
