How does a person get into Heaven?

Here’s what most people say about what gets you into Heaven:

Everyone becomes an angel and goes to heaven when they die.
Whoever obeys the Ten Commandments will go to heaven.
Whoever goes to church will go to heaven.
Whoever does more good things than bad things will go to heaven.
Whoever believes in God will go to heaven.
Whoever has not done anything really bad will go

Well, these statements may SEEM ok, but they are NOT TRUE. None of these will get a person past those pearly gates.

To get into heaven you must:

1. Admit you are a sinner. Romans 3:23 from the Bible says “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God”. That means that EVERYONE has sinned.

2. You must then realize that Jesus Christ died on the cross for your sins and took your punishment so that you could have eternal life in Heaven.

3. You must now REPENT of your sins and accept Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord and to forgive you of all your sins(things you have done wrong). This means that you must totally and sincerely turn from your sins, and simply ask Jesus Christ to be your Savior and Lord and to come into your heart and change it. It doesn’t matter how bad you have been, because Jesus will take you anyway. All you need to do is accept his offer of eternal life.

Here’s a prayer that you can pray if you decide to accept Jesus as Savior:

“God, I recognize that I have not lived my life for You up until now. I have been living for myself and that is wrong. I need You in my life; I want You in my life. I acknowledge the completed work of Your Son Jesus Christ in giving His life for me on the cross at Calvary, and I long to receive the forgiveness you have made freely available to me through this sacrifice. Come into my life now, Lord. Take up residence in my heart and be my king, my Lord, and my Savior. If you refuse to accept Jesus Christ as Savior and die without accepting him as Savior, then you will die in your sin, and then there will be no hope for you. Instead of spending eternity in Heaven, a place of pure bliss where everyone is happy and there is no suffering and the streets are made of pure gold, you will go to another place. A terrible place.

God originally made Hell for Satan and his band of Demons(Satan and his demons are former angels who turned against God, so God kicked them out of heaven). You must pray in Jesus’ name! If you don’t do that, then the prayer will not reach God’s ears! Sorry, but I’m not the one who makes the rules. The Passantinos have done extensive research in the area of the cults, and they offer pertinent comments regarding salvation in ISKCON:
Salvation in Hare Krishna is thoroughly entwined with the Hindu concept of karma, or retributive justice. This teaching, which requires belief in rein-carnation and/or transmigration of the soul, says that one's deeds, good and bad, are measured and judged either for or against him. Only when his good deeds have "atoned" for his bad deeds (and he is thus cleansed of this evil world) can he realize his oneness with Krishna and cease his cycles of rebirth. The idea of karma and reincarnation is anti-biblical. Is it just or reasonable for a man to suffer in this life or be required to atone for sins in this life that he committed in a previous life that he doesn’t even remember? How can suf-fering for an unknown sin reform the sinner and mature him to the point where he no longer performs that sin? You must pray in Jesus’ name! If you don’t do that, then the prayer will not reach God’s ears! Sorry, but I’m not the one who makes the rules. I come from a very religious family where i have had being Catholic rammed down my throat till it comes out of my arse for years. Well when we moved away from the rest of the family i now live in a house of no religion.

The the thing that puts me off following any religion is that there is not enough scientific evidence, where as all that i have been taught and read about in the way of science conflicts with religion. It gets that bad that i remember visiting family in blackpool and the local Catholic church used to always have a banner out side, it changed ever so often a couple stuck in my head:

i'm not 'religious' but would consider myself spiritual as in i have belief, if that makes sense.

I kinda got the impression that its the tension between proved scientific fact and religious doctrine that causes you problems?

There's increasing amounts of 'proof' out there for intelligent design, that evolution happened and the universe exists as scientifically proven so far (which can be argued to be questionable anyway) but that all the chemistry/physics/biology involved is just too coincidental to have happened by accident, so therefore it must have been designed by some sort of intelligence.

I think that may be a useful way of looking at things? its certainly interesting.

Something like that, i have always felt the same about religion (maybe because of all the bloody religious schools and stuff i had to go to),

i would like to belive that there is something or someone out there making the choices and keeping an eye on the world but i just cant see it. To me there is no god, the only person who controls my life is myself. Its the choices i make that direct me in life (even though i am crap at it).

In the past i have had some friends who have had some urm well 'unusual' beliefs, EG spirit guides, stones that comunicate with them, meditate all night in a dip in a hill side. (might be all the acid and shrooms they did).

Even though this is not what i found to be normal i would never point this out, i would sit back and let them get on with their own thing, they seemed happy and content with what they believed in. Also they made the room feel well cosy with candles and crystals so was lovely to chill out and have a smoke with them. Well i treat all religions/beliefs in the same way, never i never ridicule or thell the followers that they are pathetic. Its what makes them happy.

Who knows one day i might find religion could be a crazy arse cult or something spiritual, for now i will keep with what i have always done and just respect other people and enjoy life..... who knows what will happen.
