Hi all - I've been off the freeparty scene for about a year or so since moving out of London but am out and about this weekend for a mates birthday. Hes never been to a squat party and really wants to go but obviously Im looking to take him to something not filled with crackheads / stabbings etc - i used to go to techtonic in the pleasure rooms in N17 alot like 2 years ago but gather thats closed down now so am looking for a recommendation from any of you lot for a goodvibe party in london this weekend - know i will probs have to log in again later in the week to check but wanted to get the ball rolling - have got all the usual numbers to call but dont want to take potluck - any thoughts anyone?

Thank you all - think that squatjuice sounds like best answer for something "more civilised"........i was trying to find out what acidmonkey were up to also as they used to do semi legal stuff off upper street with security etc...........................sure that i can find something - access all areas told me to bell them back on thursday morning for some ideas :groucho:
Is really sad that this scene has been de-railed by muggers / crackheads to the extent that alot of the posts i read relate to violence witnessed. I can remember going to malfaiteurs for halloween a few years ago in an old pub and they had all kinds of problems with local dickheads either refusing to pay £3 or once they were in there robbing people with knives etc. Dont really enjoy parties where you have to hit someone with a can of Stella to protect you and yours!!! :hopeless:

hi derek! glad you enjoyed the party and it seemed friendly and good natured. I think putting it right out in the open where the whole of Londonistan can watch (and maybe join in ?) makes people behave a bit better - they have fun but are less likely to cause trouble

none of these groups actually have any core membership - its like the critical mass for cycle rides where a group of people just decide to go off and do stuff. They don't put on raves either although they are supportive towards them.

I think TBH the beach parties are organised by a bunch of locals from London; same as they always were when the beach was first put there as something to occupy kids in London whose families could not afford the train fare to seaside resorts.
