anyone else go to this party?? middle of london under festival peir:horay:

was wicked, about 200m down the river from the london eye, all the people leavin the theaters an walkin down the south bank were lovin it loads came down for a dance, must have been 300-400 people, was tripppy when the tide started comin in again tho,

middle of london rave + drugs + no trouble, were about 6/7 pigs hangin around till most of the general public had exited the theater and watched us jump around then they all left us to it

do it again

I think its legal or at least tolerated

that bit of the Thames (or anythign downstream of Teddington) is actually the sea and comes under jurisdiction of the Port of London Authority (PLA)

ISTR reading on SJ the PLA were aware of it and were OK about it..

in "Londonistan" currently under terrorist alert they keep a very close eye on what is going up and down the Thames; if the PLA and cops did not want you there they would definitely do something about it

glad to hear it went well...

Yeah it was fully legal and fully endorsed by the various london authorites, although the people leavin the surrounding theaters and others attractions seemed to think it was illegal and were surprised when they asked the police what was happening,

was a really good atmosphere, an a huge mix of people, loads of foreginers, older smartly dressed people, younger smart people (one girl was being dragged down by her bf didnt look at all happy, loads of rudes and the normal dirty ravin crew,

all the rudes were safe, thought me a my gf were gonna get robbed when a group of 4 hoodies were walkin towards but the jus asked to borrow a grinder, saw them again later havin it up to the ardcore at the end which was a sight

lots of friendly people, friendly police, shame they were sound restrictions so they only had 4 mid's still sounded gd tho, shame i left before ed cox did a set on the sk8in bit in the mornin 2, but me an my gf decided to go for a spliff out side westminster:bigsmile:

(one girl was being dragged down by her bf didnt look at all happy, loads of rudes and the normal dirty ravin crew,

I think this was me and my GF.... My first 'free party', I have been waiting to go to a London event for a while so I was ready for this one! We was very drunk and she cant handle it when its hardcore like that, but i'm like "don't you think thats fu**ing amasing, people dancing on the beach." only got an hour or so in the end, i can't send her home on her todd. I'm well up for more of the like... Party People are wicked, Girl in a Dog suit, quality!! Leave her at home next time.

Events are either on HDFK site (breakcore) or Dontstayin (trance, hardstyle , hard house)

Festival Pier has been around for years (since the 1950s?) - the sand was put there by the council for the benefit of working class families who couldn't afford the train fare to places like Margate or Southend. Its mentioned in a book about the history of the Thames I have at home - I'll see if I can find the info about it this evening.

I think a number of different crews are putting on these events; although I'd make the most of it whilst you can.

They are semi-legal inasmuch that L.B Lambeth may have the overall license for the festival pier area; although the area itself may come under jurisdiction of the Port of London authority.

In other words they are only tolerated because no ones worked out yet how to stop these events; and the more pragmatic people in authority may have realised that its better these events happen relatively out in the open where there is access for the blue lights, and are time-limited by the incoming tide which prevents excessive noise nuisance!

One plus point of the area being in full public view is that robbers etc are less likely to attack as there is probably CCTV watching the whole area as well

Provided no one accidentally drowns, catches Weils disease or is robbed and dumped in the river; there should not be any major problems.

That said like with any public area (Ridgeway, Thetford Forest etc) if too many crews rinse the place events there won't be tolerated for long.

well it should be a bit warmer...

but not such a good plan though if its just after a thunderstorm as Thames Water discharge untreated sewage directly into the tidal Thames when the storm drains overflow...

http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk_news/story/0,3604,1377306,00.html

keep an eye on the local news - there are 5 sewage pumping stations between Teddington lock and the North Sea estuary.

Thames Water do try and warn people via the media when they are putting loads in but apparently about 33 olympic size swimming pools of raw sewage goes in to the Thames every year...

New poster here, but been checking the site now and then for a little while. - hello to all!

Sounds like this party went down a treat. As these events are "legal" im sure the organisers wont mind me mentioning that you can hear some psytrance there weekend after this.

Hope to see people there!
