Those who used to go out don't really go out anymore, and there's no one to fill in the space they left. There is a semi-free partyish thing that has bands and breaks from time to time but it's no 4 to the floor bang bang bang like in the past. There's np real new blood on what little scene we have, when something does go on, it's always exactly the same people. Now don't get me wrong, most people I know who party are all really nice, but it is the same old faces all the time. The "main player" in town now used to do absolutely massive house parties around Bournemouth, with several rooms of bands and DJ's. They have now got a club night once every few months which gets rammed completely, usually followed by an after party in houses. I expect I'm falling out of the loop now cos I don't get much time to get out anywhere at the moment. I expect there's another one maybe two other rigs in the area, but I generally know who is out either from speaking to people direct or hearing it from other people.

In high summer, there can be beach parties anywhere between Hengistbury Head to deep into the Purbecks. These are ok. It's cool seeing the sun come up on the beach.

The problem with Bournemouth/Poole is that there is no real "underground" scene. It's all commercial events at ridiculously priced places. I paid £4.20 for a pint of Carling last night in Toko (where I went under protest for mates birthday). The majority of people (not including me who is utterly poor) round here can afford this and don't think anything of drinking £100 of bottled beer and shots. Everyone is happy with this and so noone really has decided to go off and do their own thing like in other areas. What we need is a recession or something, everyone will become poor again and decide to make their own entertainment.
