Hey Folks,
im a newbie on this site but am a seasoned free party peep and old skool raver. Aaaa, the Rez :horay:
Am looking for some tech info for building our own soundsystem, was gonna buy one new but that kinda goes against the grain and have some experience with electronics so was gonna give building one a bash.
If anyone knows where to find schematics, etc for speaker cabs it would be massivley appreciated
Cheers y'all

What kind of music were you thinking of playing and what size events do you plan on doing. Indoor/Outdoor?

Getting a big bonus this year so probably about £1,500 for the speakers and amp. Already got a light but might get one more

our personal favourites are peaveys but i would definetley have given crowns house room; yum
[we like peaveys because they are hard to break BTW; even if you get them wet you just let them dry out and off you go] [ i have helped take one apart and literally wash its components in the sink before reassembling it and using it for several more years; dont try this at home BTW]

Try bonza sound services (guildford) www.bonza.demon.co.uk They don't always keep the site up to date though so it's best to give them a ring to find out what they have.
Also try http://www.concerttrade.com , www.crystalpro.demon.co.uk & http://www.bdlm.co.uk/
6 bins and 2 top boxes should well overshoot your 1.5 - 2k mark. If it's techno electro and house you are playing you will not need large amounts of very low bottom end so 4 HD15 kick bins would do you very nicely. Look on speakerplans.com for the designs (if any of you are skilled in woodcraft) or ask around on the forum there as there are a lot of people setting themselves up as rig builders.
Bear in mind that 4 will set you back £1400-£1500 once they are loaded with drivers etc. Then you will need an amp to power them. If you are on a budget then look in to C-Mark amps as I've heard good things about them and they are stupidly cheap. Then you will need mid and top cabs plus the amps to power them. Not forgetting all the leads and processing equipment etc. This may well take you over your planned budget budget so I might have just wasted my time typing all that out but I'll leave it in anyway
If you would like to stay away from dated designs and second hand equipment, but would like to stay within your budget, then another option would be this: http://www.voidaudio.com/product_detail.asp?id=46
It comes complete with everything you need and is easy to set up. Sounds great and will give you the experience you need to move on to bigger systems later on if you want to upgrade.
If you head on over to proaudioparts.com then I think you can get these systems for about £1800. It doesn't look like much but will probably outperform 6 dodgy reflex bins and cheap ancient top cabs.
