Hey

Try finding a local sawmill - they quite often have piles of free firewood they need to get rid off - offcuts from sawing. Won't be logs tho but should be free or v cheap, usually pretty dry and you could pick up with your van.

Check out Magpie- they do wood recycling projects, but i'm sure they'd have a lot of wood that is unusable.

I go urban wood gathering. Lots of good wood dumped around the streets and in peoples front gardens round here. Obviously dont chop down someones porch but you know what i mean :)
