I love the police.

Last Night was an A1, tip-top, clubbing, jam fair. It was a sandwich of fun, on ecstasy bread, wrapped up in a big bag like disco fudge. It doesn't get much better than that. I just wish that I could control these *fucking mood swings!*

End of 99% of stories tbh. At parties, coppers in riot gear are usually there ready to fight. It's the last line of the law and they are authorised to use force. Imo, the violence is just they are trained to use. Of course riot squads at parties are generally not needed in the first place and just aggravate things, but that's upto the blokes in the office.

Most people complain when they stand toe to toe next to riot coppers then get a beating. If you don't want a beating, don't stand next to them.

Im not on the OBs side or anything here.I don't think there's actually point in taking sides anyway. Even if the cops are being tossers, responding to them just makes it worse for the rigs out, the area and the scene in general. Unfortunately coppers always win when it comes to who was "right".

This is all just specific to parties though. There's a vid that got posted on SJ with some American 15 yr old girl getting a right beating in a cell for being a gobby cunt. Well unnecessary response in this case obviously. Also I think in cases of being handled by the police in none riot situations, they have plenty of other options before they act on what should be their last choice - violence. Even still there's a difference between restraining/forcibly moving someone and just given em a bashin.

its the professionalism of a policemans job not to smash the fuck out of people though, they are supposed to be trained in restraint

but then they are humans, and humans are cunts, shame these cunts have power too.
riot police are the fucking scum of the earth, worse than normal coppers. there's a reason they choose to weild massive sheilds and battons, cos they are cunts.

Anyone who worked to get into a position where they get training to batter the fuck into someone and have permission to, then they're going to.
Don't expect them to be nice, no matter if you are to them.

Best thing to do is try to avoid and if they come at you do exactly as they say, and/or drop to the floor in the foetal position if they look like they mean business.

In the end the police are ALWAYS in the right, no matter what.

If i was a riot copper and had the ok to smash someone up then i probably would, although it would depend on the person. If someone was in my face calling me a cunt and threatening me then i would most likely beat them and feel quite happy about it. if they were playing nice and were non threatening then i would leave em alone, all depends on the person really.

At the end of the day if you tell a riot copper to bring it and they do then you can't really moan about it afterwards can you.

I love the OB, they really deserve more sympathy, and also some tea and a biscuit...

oh no, sorry, they have already taken the biscuit, cos its a potentially offensive weapon!

Careful with that balloon, Eugene, someone could get hurt! and while you're at it, we will have those bin bags, that soap (to stop em smelling i guess!), those blankets and that clown outfit. Thank god we have the filth to protect us, eh...

They are hard as fuck tho, insect bites, heat exhaustion, sitting in a car... its tough on the streets you know!

A policeman stamped on my hand once when I was at an animal rights protest because I was sitting on the ground getting leaflets out of my bag. I didn't react too well and was extremely lucky not to get charged really

in 18 years of partying and 150+ parties/raves I've only seen "riot police" 3 times and the only people what have got attacked have tried to "stand up" to the cops. However much people disagree with them being there when its got that far they are trained to clear the area and not to lose.

There were some bad things what happened in the 1970s and 1980s but now the feds are watched a lot more closely and trained to use brains as well as brawn when clearing areas, so the amount of injuries (on both sides) are less than they were 20-30 years ago.

In particular Metpol and those forces what crosstrain with MP are taught to "pick the biggest hardest bastards" and "bring them down first" as a psychological tactic.

That said, some officers do tend to pick on young (and otherwise harmless) girls, as paradoxical as it seems its usually in the forces where there are many high ranking female officers, as its a way amongst male cops what have had to otherwise hide their misogyny of "getting their own back". (to work this out all you need to do these days is go on the force website and check the chain of command which is all out in the open for most forces!)

TBH my mum has much harsher stories about police brutality from her country (Malaysia) than I could ever come up with!

They have the FRU (Federal Reserve Unit) - she told me how in the 1960s they kicked to death some young lad with learning difficulties / disability because he was slightly cheeky to them, and just thought they were doing society good by "culling out a useless handicapped person when Malaysia needs strong men to survive"

There is also the Rela, who are a volunteer (but sometimes armed!) force rather like a cross between Dads Army, the Taliban, the Special Constabulary and Daily Mail readers. They were recently asked to round up suspected illegal immigrants (mostly from Indonesia and Phillipines) and executed seven without trial, dumping their bodies in a lake!

TBH I don't know of any country in the world (not even the really liberal ones) where protests are not dealt with by cops in some way or another, nor where people are allowed to constantly get away with occupying someone elses private property.

i was watching a police camera action style program the other day .. there were some cruisers (people who have cars with an "i" badge on the back that meet up to do wheel spins ect.) one of the coppers that were patroling the gathering was explaining what he was doing .. and after sending some guy off with a warning for screeching his wheels said "now i am gonna wait here for a bit out of the way and hope that he comes back and does something wrong so i can arrest him" .. now in an ideal world he would have said "now i hope he does nothing else wrong" .. but unfortunatly this is not the case ..

alot of the younger raver geration are mabey slightly nieve to this kind of mentality from the police and think that it is them who are starting things with the poilce .. but this isn't allways the case ..

most police enjoy there job .. thats why they do it .. and this envolves aresting people... i have seen first hand police pushing peoples tempers ON PERPOSE in order to get a reaction so they can nick them/ bash them about a bit .. and thats what alot of people dont realise .. that some police like any human can be a cunt .. and these perticula policemen will manipulate situations to get what they want .. be it winding up people to get "a rise" out of them so they can nick them .. or planting evedence ect. ect. .. people need to realise this and just avoid the police as much as possible ... as people have said in this thread .. you not going to win in an argument or a fight with a copper .. you will get nicked or beaten eventualy .. and thats exactly what some police are tring to do ... so just don't react .. walk away .. then you can spend the rest of the night in your own bed .. not in a police cell one or worce a hospital bed!

Perhaps I should add that getting away with it once taught me not to assault any more police officers but I was mightily pissed off given I hadn't actually been doing anything at the time, it seemed he was just picking on me because I am little and was quite young at the time.

I've never seen any trouble from police at parties, the police/paramedics etc always seem to be quite amused if anything.

you just need to arm yourself with a fire hose which shoots out liquid acid, then they'd just join the rave instead of stopping it

Ahh the police. got to love them. you can't fight the system. that battle was lost long ago. you've just got to find your place in it and try and keep your mind as free as possible.

I think overall the police do a great job policing dissorder in general. there are a lot of bad people that need challanged in society.

I'm sure lots of police don't even want to come and break up parties. it's in their contract though, along with some other undesirable things.

Probably when they are there they are genuinely scared for their safety. maybe they cope with their fear by being aggressive, its a natural human defense. taking the psychological advantage.

problem looks to me like they are coming into a usually happy atmosphere charged up and ready to deal with anything. peace and love in a head on collision with fear, hostility and aggresion. thats not a good mix.

In their eyes, and from their daily experiance, people who are 'high' behave unpredictably and are capable of violence. They have seen it all. a career of dealing with the dregs of humanity. especially the city cops. Try and give them a hug and they won't let you near. Maybe last month some reprobate tried to stick them with a needle, so now that cop decides no one gets the chance any more. Get too close you 'll get smashed.

How can you be a cop and not be affected by what you see. its going to form your views about people who take drugs. Seeing the effects of drug addiction on crime and on child neglect and abuse on a daily basis.

to some of them the party scene is where some of the criminals, who's crimes they chase during the week, go for a good time. and that is partly true.

perspective is hard to appreciate if it is not your own. you've got to respect the world as others see it even if they are ignorant.

hug a copper!!!

show them some love!!!

you might just change a small part of the world.

by the way i love the forum

I've been to 20 or 30 parties or so, and seen police at about 2/3rds of em. Never seen any fights between police and party goers, or anyone getting arrested... seen some dicks trying to be aggressive towards the police and asking for trouble though...

...I'm just glad I wasn't at Wentwood
