UK : W : Swindon "mini-rave" busted
cops even busted this relatively small party!
They also searched virtually a quarter of the rave.. this seems to suggest there is actually a nationwide clampdown this year across England and Wales http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/w...re/7249682.stm Quote:

![]() cops now see illegal raves to be one of the biggest areas where drugs are openly consumed and sold, they have worked out that some crews may be funded at least in party by drugs revenue, and they genuinely feel that occasional party drug use leads to more problematic use because of some peoples lack of self control think about all the "nice middle class families" where their teenage kids have discovered pills or K and are fine at the weekends but start going psycho on the comedowns or they are dropping out of school/college. I remember this happening amongst my mates in 1991-2 so it must be even worse these days with drugs being cheaper and more easily available. I bet you must know people like this as well... bear in mind there is a lot more cross referencing of data on people such as links with other incidents, NHS records etc.. also all the things the authorities have learned since the early rave days of the 1990s.. OK even if many of the youths sort themselves out its not after causing a fair bit of pain to themselves and those close to them and holding themselves back in life (in a ruthlessly competitive world) take a look at our own drugs forums and sadly there seem to be a lot of people trying to get off ketamine or even smack who started on these things through the rave scene... whilst those forums do a lot of good helping people they also mean outsiders and authority figures also read and judge the party scene by what they see.. (this goes for everything posted on the internet) its going to take a change on our part (less people fucking up) and possibly less parties for a bit before the situation gets any better (if it does..) when i was out the other week at an organised rave 6 people collapsed in the main arena 3 of those where down to ket apparently, i guess its that whole thing of knowing your limits really i do try to do alot of things in moderation but i guess other people don't have that self control, i was talking to a friend of mine who was saying her sister has gotten into doing ket and see's it as a bit of a fashion statement.
so whats that now taking drugs is seen as a good thing cause it makes you look cool with your mates??? Who knows i know i took drugs when i was younger as it hightened the experience of the music ect.It seems people want to take drugs now so they don't feel in control of there own body. |

I think you have a really good point, taking drugs does lead to people into changing there attitudes on life and aspirations etc. Parties can lead people to into drugs they would never have thought they would never take. but it isnt the only place that this can happen and police searching joe average and seizing your car isnt going to solve the issue. However i do agree change is needed to change what outsiders think of the rave scene. Im just not sure that less parties is the answer.

Even then it was only one or two a month rather than every weekend and they were in different places. Most of the crews I used to follow would only do one every month or so (its actually very stressful and labour intensive putting on a good party!) what is happening is that certain areas are repeatedly being targeted and the locals are getting pissed off (even in areas where they once tolerated parties). People like small farmers and villagers are now seeing themselves as victims rather than killjoys or oppressors and unfortunately the bulk of the British public is starting to support them... |

the problem is these days the media aren't exaggerating (especially in East Anglia where there was a group of people with liberal views who would often challenge inaccurate media depictions of raves).
The stuff like mess, damage and overuse of drugs is real, something most ravers have seen with their own eyes.. Quote:
One thing I've noticed is a lot of girls in their late teens/twenties stopping partying or even leaving crews because they don't agree with stuff like the mess and aggression, this has been going on for some years now.. Quote:
That said, I've been to parties even in East Anglia where you wouldn't have known afterwards there had been a rave in that place as the clean up was done well there are farmers who don't mind it if people clean up and don't damage farm type stuff (a lot of todays farmers may be my sort of age group and were once ravers themselves) but there is always some idiot what takes the piss.. what is a big shame for those of you in your teens/20s is these problems have been left to fester for 10 years, so I think you are unfortunately being punished for the crimes of the previous generation of ravers (many of whom have simply walked away and gone "back into normal life") |

one thing which I find strange (especially as a newcomer to this region) is why the same 30-40 mile radius area gets targeted? I think though there is a certain headstrong, stubborn attitude in East Anglia which has been around for hundreds of years where people take sides and refuse to budge - which means that unfortunately cops are ready to deal with every sort of protest and direct action - and now the farmers feel they are the victims they don't want to "give in" to ravers. |

I'm fucking fed up with parties being busted all the time! It's really winding me up now! Drove for fucking ages on sat and when we was about 5miles away found out the Wankers (OB) had raided the party!!
![]() I think Organisers are gonna have to rethink their strategys when planning a party now. We need to find locations that are far away from residential areas! ![]() |
