looks good (was amused to see someone dressed up as Dangermouse) and I hope it goes well ....

but I remember last time when there was one planned round our way, it got cancelled for reasons bangface haven't really discussed in public - I had to edit the thread just a week before to stop people reading the forum and making a wasted journey to the arse-end of Suffolk for a event what was never gonna happen, as no one from bangface had logged on here to do so..

I only knew about the cancellation myself from reading the mainstream local media whist looking for crime stories...

Don't get me wrong, I'm really happy the Bangface crew have decided to subscribe here and wish them every success with their future events, but the bad news has to be shared with the good. Why did the suffolk event not happen? A mate of mine (who leads a very busy life otherwise and doesn't go raving much) was even planning on going there.

if you didn't sell enough tickets to make the event profitable than be honest and upfront and say so - there seem to be a lot of people here what really rate your events and if they knew how tight the finances were in putting them on, maybe those who are undecided may decide to buy a ticket..

if its in Somerleyton (a posh estate just outside Lowestoft) I think that was the one. Its good they warned the ticket holders or people on the mailing list but there was an active advert on this forum which also should have been altered, and some of the other dudes from round this way who are mods were planning to go and presumably didn't get tipped off about the cancellation

Also what hasn't been discussed very openly is why this happened, whether it was poor ticket sales, the cops making a fuss or any other reason. its important these things are discussed by all promoters as the dance music scene has never really been liked by the authorities, it is considered linked to organised crime and therefore and events are only tolerated grudgingly, they are always looking for ways to stop them...

yeah i had tickets to it. i was given a refund and guestlist place for the replacement night in london. i don't think it was to do with ticket sales because apparently they were down to their last 1000 about 2 months prior to it - i think i read a rumour that it was about licensing on the estate, though i might be remembering that wrong. you're right though, all the adverts should have been changed.

Hi guys, sorry about not updating the post. We refunded everyone in full and arranged a totally free replacement event which was well publicised. It was a very tough time and we fully appreciate all the support. Sadly it was impossible for us to go ahead with the strict licence conditions on the summer event but the Weekender is all indoors and good to go! onwards and upwards :)

if its not gonna burn too many bridges, any chance of more info on this, even if its by PM? I live and (occasionally) party in this county, as do a few younger folks and we would like to put on events but find that licensing is a major hurdle - like when mostly teenage friends tried to do a midweek event for < 100 people and got asked about full scale security/event management plans...

I think if all promoters in the area share the info then it gives us more power to lobby for events to be permitted in East Anglia which was once a major hub of the rave scene, as important as London or SE England..
