Registered Members Only?

I think it might be time to block anyone but fully registered members from posting but not browsing. What do you think? The main benefit would be less spam but it might become harder for people to take part if the can't receive our registration emails for whatever reason...

Maybe make another mod or 2 capable to "register" members in the ACP..

And I don't mean me, but someone who might have the time.

its a good idea but I would agree with what Angel said. At least two real life friends of mine have had problems confirming their email, and it would be a real shame if they couldn't use this site because of it...

Don't know if it's the same problem I have but it seems like people registering with a hotmail account have most of the problems..

I don't get mails from Partyvibe on my hotmail account even if it's set on the allowed list.

Hotmail sucks

only if we have a foolproof system of activating e-mails

which would need enabling others to do it, either existing mods of volunteers?

You already have to be a fully registered member to download music, and most of them can work it out without bigger problems.

It will make the list of spammers a lot smaller, because they can't be arsed to go to the procedures of finishing the registration.

We get a lot of spam, it just get deleted before most members realise it's there, but it's a pain in the *rse and I think both Mods and Admin could use their time on something better.

So I still say make 1 or 2 mods able to do it, I know it can be a risk letting people into your ACP (admin control panel) but it can be done so they only can use that function.
But... I would think twice about letting people into my ACP too, so it's really not an easy descision for Admin.

i say yes but mby you could put some kinda warning on the registration page that explains the emails may go to the spam folder .. allso you could have just one section they can post in ... say an "unregisterd help" forum section .. or something like the introductions section incase any issues arise?

i don't see a lot of spam making it through but if you are spending a lot of time fighting it, registration is probably the easiest way to cut down.

if you want any help in getting emails through to odd networks, i'd be glad to help on the mail setup side. been doing email setups for a few years now - http://w2.eff.org/Net_culture/Net_in...c/mail_methods

Maybe the introductions forum could be available to all so anyone having trouble getting the confirmation email can post in there and tell us.

I put some changes in place before the weekend which I won't go into and seem to be making a difference. So let's see how things go over the next couple of weeks. Everyone's feedback is appreciated though, thanks all!

Do you use the grey -Partyvibe- setting? I've had little pop ups come up when someone has posted in a hot topic.
