yea, sorry dude, you shouldnt take my remarks so personally as i frequently play devils advocate just to fuel the debate. im sorry if this is confusing.
however, what i meant by the quoted section was that many people are willing, and indeed glad to put themselves at risk from the authorities if it means that a lot of people can have a good time. while your advice is useful, you must accept that it is other peoples choice to reject it oin the grounds that by learning and avioding the law you are avoiding the issue, and that some people wish to fragrantly flout the law simply because they beleive it to be wrong (or on any grounds, for that matter). you may think that they are stupid, but that just makes you seem closed minded and arrogant (which i think all of us are to some degree). different people have different ways of doing things, and i wouldnt get disparaged from putting your information up because im sure it has helped lots of people. |

elvraveon certainly isn't scared of cops; he has been partying for rather a long time and is somewhat like Dr Who, dealing with a lot of monsters in different timezones.
there is also still a postcode lottery and numbers game as to the level of anti-party enforcement, (PEL prosecutions require expensive detectives and lawyers; and appear to only be carried out when the land has substantial commercial value.) CJA can just use bobbies and sarges.. but I've also also a definite shift towards cops working together (if only because they have been forced to) whilst free party crews drift apart. A lot of his views are coloured by developments in a particular party region that both of us spend a lot of time in. it is an affluent area of Britain where a lot of young people seem to have much spare time and money to set up rigs, yet often ignore many of the risks, but whinge and moan when then things go wrong or worse still turn on each other. one thing that brought it all on top in our area was that a few years ago crews would take over multiple areas in the same region (some rather too near to residential areas IMO) with small parties because "X" refused to link up with "Y" over some stupid argument. however the crowds would then drive in modified cars as odd hours from party to party; and clog up narrow rural roads with extra traffic. hardly surprising the lcoals got pissed off.. but between them they could easily choose a venue which did not annoy too many people. also carrying on till Monday does cause more grief as farmers and rural people work on Sunday; another issue is people driving home whilst sleep deprived (there have been nasty prangs this way in which people from the scene have lost their lives). if elraveon comes across as "pessimistic" then its only because all these mistakes have been made and there really has been a massive clampdown; there are multple problems facing the scene and PEL is just one of them. another issue is the long-term effect of health problems amongst ravers - the NHS keeps a discreet eye on health problems caused by drug use at raves (not individual patient names but again counting the costs) every area has a drug action team which consists of cops, councils, NHS staff, and other agencies such as rehab units and other govt depts, they monitor unlicensed raves as well now (this is mentioned in the govts Safer Clubbing Guide) Personally I think violence between people on the scene (which is no longer a London thing) and mental health problems caused by overuse of drugs is a far greater danger than the law.... but the only way it can be dealt with is by all of us talking to each other and dealing with it rather than turning on each other when the news isn't good, and if you think you can change or alter a law by flouting it its best to know what the penalties are and how many others support your cause. Way too many otherwise good people are left to rot in prisons worldwide because they then underestimate their level of backup.. --- Seriantia que quondam fuit Rollandi le Pettour in Hemingeston in comitatu Suff’, pro qua debuit facere die Natali Domini singulis annis coram domino rege unum saltum et sifflettum et unum bumbulum. 15 cans of Adnams.. ![]() Last edited by General Lighting; 02-11-2005 at 10:19 AM.. |
