Little bastards

Well for a while now we've had a group of kids harassing us in our own home, well it's one kid in particular who's about 13 that keeps on causing all the trouble.

It started with the little gob shite coming into our front garden, opening our front door and slamming it but now it's escalated to him just running up and booting our front door. This little bastard has already threatened to punch my old dear in the face and has also threatened my old man, I've chased him a few times but he's always halfway up the road before I even get out the door.

My rents have called the police out a few times but as you can imagine the kid is long gone by the time they get here.

What I would like to know is, if I do actually catch the shite am I allowed to detain him untill the police arrive?

Obviously if he was a bit older I'd teach him a different lesson but with him being so young it'd be me getting done as opposed to him.

yeah citizens arrest. not sure about the ins and outs of restraining him tho and whats allowed and what isnt.
how old is he? do you know where he lives? maybe try and talk to his parents although they may be just as bad or worse than him.

I'm not certain of his age but I'd say he's around the age of 13, I know he lives in my area but unfortunately I don't know where exactly otherwise like you say I would go and have a word with his parents.

Hmmmm, only reason I ask is cos I heard of a bloke detaing some kid that was causing trouble but ended up getting done by the police for doing so. Although I think he actually put them in his car and drove them to the police station or summat, I'm sure though.

Trust me I've thought about, in moments of rage I've even thougt about sitting up in my top window with an air riffle but I don't think it's such a good idea.

That wouldn't be a good idea cos it can be traced back to you. If it gets worse then consider getting yourself an air tight alibi then smash him up. Sometimes people need a kicking, Straightens em out.

yeah thats probably false imprisonment/kidnapping. i reckon one of the other mods will be able to help you on the legal implications. Alternativly you could ring up your local nick and ask them, im sure they would be happy to tell you what you can and cant do. Also that call would be recorded so if the kid did try and get you in trouble when it happened you'd at least have that call as evidence that you had asked them about what you should do...

Yeah I think I might try giving the local nick a bell on monday to see what the score is with detaing him, cheers for the advice.

Thats a good option as well tbh. just make sure you've got a witness to say he saw the kid throw the first punch then you've acted in self defence and you can go to town on him! with in reason

It doesn't matter about the law, you don't fucking wack a 13 year-old regardless.

I'd be careful about detaining him, get CCTV cameras up if you are that bothered - not as expensive as you think if you google cheap surveillance. To be honest if you do catch him talk to the kid, find out why and his mentality, he's only 13 better than plantin a kid one innit.
