I have often thought that Heroin usage is increasing in amongst young people. Actually, it's not just the young.

Often these people are isolated and need somewhere to discuss the topic away from others due to the prejudice of the general population.

I would like to offer my experience as an ex-user of Heroin and general opiate use and welcome other addicts, ex-addicts, health professionals and anyone who wants to help or be helped to join.

Therefore, I have offered this side group so we are able to assist those who need it.

I hope that even though a majority of people on here do drugs in one form or another, we can do some good in the world and not pass on our bad habits to others.

Please remember that the usual Partyvibe rules apply, no matter which forum you are in and this place is no exception.

Please bear in mind that your conversation can be viewed by anyone and so do not incriminate yourself. The general rule of thumb is, "If you don't want your grandmother to know, don't type it on the internet".

I know, new features and all that - its like a new toy!

I'm hoping that this turns out to be somewhere where we can talk openly about Heroin, it's dangers rather than us as either addicts, ex users, current users or whatever glorifying the drug.

I hope this is a place where we can challenge the stereotypes of the general public and that heroin is not just a problem that low-lifes have. Solicitors, Police, Doctors and every job you can think of, someone somewhere has been a slave to opiates.

I hope that we all welcome anyone who wants to talk openly about a taboo subject and lets not encourage opiate usage but discuss it.

as an ex user myself i wanted to join this forum to help/advise people about the dangers of heroin but the problem is not just smack more of my mates have died from methadone than heroin!also something which has not been mentiond here is benzos, ive read alot of threds about people asking and tacking them youve got to remember that these are just as bad and just as addictive so be carefull they are a great buzz but just remember moderation is the best bet there also great for cum downs but if your not used to em then just start with about 20 mg.

i like heroin i've took it for around 15 years and dont want to stop taking it totaly, it getting the balence of having a life as well as being a heroin user. is it possible?

It is hard work having the balance between using and leading a normal life. And what Ben says about methadone - I know some non-opiate users who have been given methadone and what do you know? Sleeep for 19 hours

I personally thought that after time we will have more and more people to the group. Even if they only post a few times; then in that case we still have the ability to help each person on their own merit.

Txboi sent me a PM and without going into too much details the user says he is in Dallas,Texas and is a user/abuser of the drug. I also think this would useful in giving us information from across the water.

Txboi, how is the USA and Heroin/Opiates in general? Is it a large problem or only a select few do the drug? In the UK, it seems to catch almost anyone with the determination to try it once.

Ben, that was also my feeling, to be able to do some good in the world. Be a little inspired by our own determination to either stay clean, become clean or just to keep the drug under control whilst we work or try and live as much a normal life.

What does everyone think this Opiate Den can achieve and what do you want it to be?

I have no fixed ideas on how I expect this group to evolve - I am just interested in it doing so :)
